One of my recent ARAMs, one of my team mates was spam pinging for us to use clarity (because he refused to get a mana item). I told him that he had a third of his mana, he didn't need it. He then called us all "f*ggots". He then reports ME for not using clarity.
And then I get autobanned. Cool beans.

Just sucks that instead of a chat restrict, or some other form of warning, I get a large ban on my first time ever reported (or at least reprimanded)

While I sympathize for you and getting punished, the best course of action in these situations is to mute, report, and move on.
You can open a support ticket to see if they can reduce your suspension. No guarantee anything will come of it.
