Alright so lets start this off by me saying I am scum, I ruined many games and have been banned d around 3 times before I got my finally permanent ban, did I deserve it? Hell fucking yes I did. Before we start let me say I am sorry to everyone's game I was ruined everyone's day I have ruined and even worse to everyone that I have ever flamed. I know u probably don't even remember me but I'm sorry, when I was younger I was rude had anger management issues and was extremely explosive, this resulted in the perma ban of my account of 3 years with over 15,000 hours played and around 600 or more dollars sunk into it. When I was permanent banned I was devestated and I turned my self around, I went to anger manament classes as well as read many books on anger management and haven't even touched the game in awhile. I spent a long time playing rugby focusing on school and learning to control that rage that's built up inside of me due to family issues with my father being a drug addicted and brother following his footsteps. After a year of training I feel like I have learned to control my anger and even learned how to diffuse arguments with my self as well as with others. I've learned a lot of self control. Now I figured I was ready to come back as a reformed player and benefit the community and game that I once terriozied only to find out that perma bans are 100% indefinite and the experiment to allow players to reform was destroyed by people like the old me. So my question to you as the community that I once flamed but still loved, to the game that I once ruined but still was addicted to, do you think there should be a system in league where after a year or more u can come back and get your permanently banned account resolved if you pass a certain reform sheet or maybe even something like where the next ban with negative activity results in an immediate perma ban as if your name is on a black list or something that can never be wiped? I feel like I deserve another chance but Maybe I'm wrong maybe I'm still scum but I think they should give players like me a chance to reform and be an asset to the community instead of someone who wants to hurt it thank you for your time have a great day

I do agree there could be some slight changes to the punishment tiers, but not revoking a permanent ban. Riot had a program for this and it failed horribly, as 95% of the players went right back to their toxic behavior. I'm glad you were able to turn around and become a better person through this, but you're a rarity. You may not be able to get your account back, but I encourage you to stick around and share your experiences with others on the PB board so maybe others can learn from it.

So Riots punishment is 5% effective. Only 5% of punished players reformed.

Where is the 2nd part of your analysis?

The one where if permanent ban is not permanent and if rito has a program to retrieve your acct, "rito punishment is 5% effective due to no risk of permanently losing your account."

? No. This was for removing permanent bans, meaning that 95% of the time it was the correct decision, and trying to reform them after that point is a futile effort. The higher tier penalty a player receives the less likely they are to change; most players that receive a chat restriction immediately improve and never need another.

Permanent ban is the punishment I was talking about. 5% of permanently banned players reformed. Permanent banning is 5% effective.

Chat restriction is an alternate punishment. It sounds like it is more effective than permanent bans.

Hopefully, that clears things up. It should reconfirm that permanent bans are not good reformation tools.

Why are you saying it's a reform tool? It's supposed to be permanent.

It's for getting people out of the game after they've botched multiple chances to actually reform.

The intention of a perma isn't to reform, it's to get them out of the community because they've proven they have no intention of doing so. It can reform people, but that's not the primary purpose.

It's the "Level 20 Challenge" program that removed those permabans that was only 5% effective, and why they do not remove permas like that anymore.

  1. Riot employees are on record telling people to create a new account after being permanently banned. It's a pretty ass hole move to encourage someone who has "proven no intention of reform", to reenter the community on a smurf account.
  2. Riot has "unjustly" permanently banned accounts before. Why would Riot want to intentionally ban an innocent player? I'm guessing they unintentionally banned accounts.

Riot permanently bans accounts because they are little children throwing tantrums. This is what happens when you give immature people absolute power.

If I may I do know that many people who were toxic like me will continue to be toxic but just because a system failed 5 years ago back when the game wasn't as respected doesn't mean it will fail again I think it's been long enough a simple system such as a one year suspension and then u are black listed so if u ever get a reasonable report again u are perma banned, this system would allow people who are truly reformed a way to get back into the game and still keep the toxic ones away ,earning riot is barely losing anything but is gaining more players for have learned their lesson

It's hard though it's hard to go through all of this change and then not be able to use my account anymore it's like training for something that will forever be out of reach which is why I think most people who get perma banned decide to go make new accounts and continue because they prob think it's easier to just not reform and restart, I truly believe that if riot gives people a chance to reform and get their perma banned accounts back people would turn over a new leaf and try again

Why didn't the thought of trying to reform start after the 14 day ban? why does it have to be after the perma ban?

Legit are told that if you mess up anymore you're done, took it for granted and got the perm, but thats when actions were regretted...

Hell and the second chance you talk about is being able to make a new account with a clean slate.

Edit: not second... more like 3rd or 4th chance

people are toxic by nature, after a harsh punishment like a perm ban and having it for so long 99% of those people will be nice to players

That's litterally being given an inch but they take a mile instead, why should riot have to bend the rules they placed because someone didn't want to listen after being given chances? mute followed by 14 day ban and then a perma, why is that only when someone wants to reform after they completely mess up?

If we are being honest some people and it sounds like this guy have real anger issues rooted deep in them it takes longer than 14 days not to mention a 14 day ban isn't going to be enough for someone to go through an anger management class as it takes a lot to even admit u have a problem but after u permanently lose something it may be enough to push these players to get help which makes the perma ban helpful but could be even more helpful with a chance to reform

so blindly do all the wrong things and only repent after you make the fatal mistake.

The thing is, it's not riots job to teach anger management, and that's what most people who get permabanned and try to get unbanned try to turn them into, anger management.

If someone doesn't want/attempt to learn to change then that's on them, he made an agreement and violated it.

I could use extreme comparisons, but i'm sure you're an intelligent person and i don't have to.

Make the comparison because right now I see someone who made mistakes and didn't realize them u till it was too late so he/she took the year off taught and trained the selfs without the use of riot so idky u brought that up and turned himself around and all he wants is another chance

You aren't wrong I am scum I realized my mistakes I fixed them on my own without riot and I am now looking for one more chance that I don't deserve but that I definitely won't waste, I have had some problems with family and I never dealt with it the right way so I balled up my anger and I would explode unfortunately I didn't learn to control it in time because I was too ignorant to admit that I had a problem when I got permabanned I realized how badly I fucked up and I actually exploded for about a whole two weeks I didn't say a word that wasn't rude to anyone my mom my brother my friends I even got mad st my dog for just wanting to go on walks. in a way the perma banned saved me it opened my eyes now that it did I'm hoping I can get s chance to prove to riot and the community that I am different from most and I deserve a chance to break my perma

after 14 day ban i think it should escalate to 3 month ban then perm

unban players banned for toxicity, give them chat restrict for a while, and give them one last chance to be nice to people :)

I believe that u have had enough warning however I do like the idea of a one year ban or one year before u can begin to reform as it gives toxic players a long time period to actually think about what they are doing and weather or not they want to change

The point of a permanent ban is that it is permanent.

If there was a system to retrieve a permanent banned account, it would be gamed. Riot gives you the chance to start fresh, on a new account, with no prior punishment history. That's more than many games do.

If permanent bans were made less permanent, it would remove the incentive to reform like you truly did for most people. People would just wait the time then game whatever test, come back not having truly reformed. And they'd go right back to their old attitude and behavior because they haven't reformed.

But u see that's fixable as their name could be on all. Black list like said in the comment where they would only need one reasonable report to be sent back and who's gonna wait a year to play on their main those true toxic players will most likely just start a new account and in a year be in the same place where as truly reformed players would have s chance to redeem them selfs

If you spent 500+ dollars on your main, wouldn't you want to go back to it?

One game is still 9 other people being games ruined that could've been prevented by not permitting them back.

The bottom line is OP acknowledges this was tried before and was a huge resounding failure. Yet OP does not acknowledge that sometimes in life innocent people get caught in the system for the greater good.

It's a balance between false positives and false negatives. Riot has decided, rightfully so in my opinion, that having false positives (where people are permabanned without recourse when they may have reformed) is better than the alternative of false negatives (letting very likely nonreformed players back in the game because they pass an arbitrary test).

Sadly OP has realized that permanent in life usually means permanent. Indefinite means there could be recourse. Permanent means permanent.

So here is my 2 cents. If we equate your behavior's consequence to a real world scenario, say mouth off to the wrong people, they warn you a few times then you keep doing it and they fatally wound you and you die, do you get a reprieve from that? No. We must learn to accept our mistakes, sometimes we become better people because of it sometimes we don't but in the end our mistakes are what allow us to grow (those that don't kill us at least). You made something from your mistakes so look for ways to improve the community, maybe do analyst work, coach, or just advise other players it may not be the way you want to help out the community, but maybe it could lead to finding something you enjoy doing.

People are free to make new accounts after a permaban on an account. Just make sure you don't repeat that behavior and get your new account permabanned.

If permabans are lifted after 3 months after they arent perma are they? Enjoy the ban... youre lucky you got 3 chances before getting perma one.. looks like you arent going to change your behaviour

Man, I believe in you. I'm sure this was all a big experience and you took it to the best direction now. However your previous account was marked by many people as the source of their sadness.

You are not even allowed to have the same name as an account that have been permanent banned. Ever.

I would see your old account as a mark of the past and the money and time you spend as the price you paid to get to this better experience.

A friend advice would be to not try to reform to fix things up (getting your account back), as a lot of things in life we mess up and there is no fixing to that, but reforming because you want to fix yourself up and move on.

Be grateful you only had to pay 600 to understand more yourself and help yourself with your case. Some people spend 20 years and 100.000 dollars on clínics and continue stuck in the dark and being banned from many other things different than league.

There is nothing good there to go back to and people feel more secure when everybody think this way. Start fresh and proud of having a new account and we will all support you.
