Tribunal
So I have been playing this game since Season 1, and I played it religiously for a few years. Over the course of the past year I have noticed that I have stopped playing the game as much as i used to. Now I am not just saying that I have gotten bored of the game, I am saying that there was something about the game that made me slowly stop wanting to play it more and more. So the past week I sat down and I seriously reflected upon why this was happening. Then out of nowhere like a flying brick, it hit me. It's honestly because of the tribunal, and I know what you are thinking. "How could the tribunal, something that wasn't actually even part of the game have anything to do with my want to play the game". Lets begin.
So when I would play a match back in the day, I would go 10 games without finding one toxic player, an afker, and once in a blue moon would you ever find a feeder. This was the community back then. It was smaller. Something that you have to understand is back in season 1. I never talked about this game except to the people that were on my friends list. I wouldn't go to school and talk about C9 most recent win, I wouldn't go around texting my friends asking hey would you like to get on. You have to understand that at that point in time, the community was just not like that. So toxic players were a dime a dozen at the very least. Then, whenever you did get someone who was toxic, it wouldn't just be me muting and reporting that person at the end of the match . IT WOULD BE THE WHOLE TEAM, AND THE ENEMY TEAM TOO. That part is very important to note, because it shows that it was a community effort to get rid of these players. Then if I ever felt like that wasn't enough, I would do my part and go to the tribunal. Here I could see other toxic players that were making games harder for those who I played with, and I could pass judgment on them.
Now let me establish something here, I will be the first to stand up and say that the old tribunal system was flawed. It was a constant downvote, with maybe the rare exception. I will also say that there was not enough representation of the accused either, so I felt like I passed on a lot of cases that I wasn't too sure about.
But herein lies the overall problem. I no longer have this way to vent. And the community has become 10 times bigger than it was when I first started playing. The community is not how it was, toxic players are not being reported by whole teams because people think it's funny when someone afk's. Saying that they will honor him/her. When someone feeds down a lane, everyone complains but when it comes time to report them at the end of the game lobby. I notice that I am the only one that actually stood around to report them. Instead of every ten games you get a toxic player, it is now every other game. These things make for a overall negative experience. I notice that me and my friends watch league of legends more than we play.
Do I have a solution to this, honestly I am not sure. I think that I have somethings that would work. I really REALLY want to come back to this game, I love it so much and I would love to go back to playing it again. But something about the system isn't working. And I think a very good way to turn it around and fix it starts with the tribunal.
