Received a Permanent Ban - I Do Not Know Why

Facebeater·2/10/2017, 3:01:49 AM·8 votes·2,380 views

I recently received an email stating that I was banned due to "the use of malicious 3rd party programs or modifications to your League of Legends client". I have played League of Legends for a long time, and I never have attempted to cheat or alter the game in any means. Even though I do not play as frequently as I used to (my last game was Jan 13th), I love League of Legends, and I would never do anything to harm the integrity of the game.

I recently contacted support via a ticket, and the player support representative (I will not mention a name for their privacy) stated they reviewed my account and said they had evidence of my cheating, but would not tell me what that is.

Although I am not a very good player (highest I have ever been is Silver, and my match history can attest to my mediocrity), League of Legends has been one of my favorite past-times over the past few years. I love this game, I love playing with my friends, and i would never, NEVER, attempt to cheat or alter my game to try and win. I fully respect Riot and League of Legends, but I believe my banning is a mistake.

Also, I have never given out my account information to anyone and I am the only one that uses my account and the computer I play on.

I would appreciate if someone else could take a look at my ban, and if there is something that flagged my account for cheating, I would like to know what that is (I have never altered game files or anything like that).

If there is anything else I can provide to prove my innocence, please let me know.

Thank you for your time.

I am in the same position as you, and my most recent response to the supporter that has been addressing my ticket was about the macros I have set up on my keyboard. If you have macros, this could be a possible source for this. My macros switch between two different profiles, one with one macro (the one that switches the profile) and the other has two (one switching the profile back, and the other with starts up my client.) Although I'm not sure this is a source, it's a possibility and if you have macros it might be worth addressing.

Edit: I'm not sure macros are a problem. Pretty vague

Did the supporter actually tell you that is what triggered your ban? I haven't been given a detailed explanation for mine, just that I was banned because "Our system has accurate evidence that your account was in violation of our Terms of Use due to the usage of malicious scripts, hacks, exploits or unauthorized third-party programs in the game".

I literally have no idea how this could have happened. I do use Curse Voice periodically to talk to my friends online, could that have caused the issue?

Yea, it just makes me really sad. I have played for years, and it is one thing I love doing with my friends and it feels like that just got stripped away from me. Some of my friends do not live near me, so it was a way for us to spend time together, and now that just got taken away from me for reasons I do not understand.

I've never tried to alter my game or cheat in any way. I would like to know what caused this, because I think it is unfair to just ban someone without giving the "evidence" for the ban. Otherwise, you just have an system that can ban people at will without anyway to dispute the claim or argue your case - how is that fair?

I appreciate everyone's comments, and I hope your issues get resolved as well, but I do not want this thread to turn into a raging thread direct toward Riot, or to disclose/discuss personal resolutions of support tickets. I genuinely just want the opportunity to discuss my problem with a support representative. There has to be a way to provide details on what triggered the ban without disclosing procedures for identifying the trigger (so it doesn't risk Riot's security measures).

CurseVoice, LoLWiz, Overwolf. Etc etc. they are ALL 3rd party programs. Now they might not be cheat programs but they are still 3rd party programs whichmeans they still violate the ToS. Riot has been lienent on some 3rd party programs in the past but has ALWAYS stated that if you use one, ANY one, it is at your own risk to do so and that The programs in question could violate the TOS at anytime thus getting your account banned

What actually caused your bans i dunno but 3rd party use was always a risk to your account no matter what and you were given fair warning. The risk this time around was not worth the outcome it seems.

It states in this moderator forum post that Curse is allowed:

http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/player-behavior-moderation/5dmkJinG-3rd-party-applicationsmodifications-whats-allowed-and-what-isnt

Therefore, I dont believe normal use of the application violates Terms in Conditions, unless they have an update on this that I do not know about.

I have been a player for a long time, and I've never been banned like this before. I don't understand why someone can't reach out to me first to clarify the situation.

A "no exceptions" policy like this doesn't seem right or fair. Does my keyboard have a macro on it that I don't know about, or is my keyboard faulty where it could cause something like this? Please give me a chance first, give me a warning, let me know so I take it out back and set it on fire, and get a new keyboard first.

I was banned falsely for this too. In no way have I used a third party program to cheat or exploit, though Riot specifically states that they have evidence that I have done so.

Anything from Riot? I use Curse and am scared that they've either reversed their stance on it or it's creating false positives.

Facebeater2/11/2017, 10:35:13 PM1 votes

If their detection system is creating false positives, it doesn't look like they are going to admit to that or change any of their decisions. It sucks, I haven't intentionally done anything to cheat, and although I don't believe everyone on the forums is innocent, I don't believe that everyone is lying either.

This experience has completely changed my opinion of Riot and their customer support. I used to rave about the company, but this is quite possibly the worse customer experience I have had in a long time.

I foresee a summoner 11 incoming.

Another way this might have happened is if someone else got access to your account. I never gave out account information and even changed my password recently over games I did not play showing up in my match history. Unfortunately, I still woke up to a perma ban this morning.

Facebeater2/10/2017, 10:52:36 PM1 votes

Nobody has ever used my account before. You can even look at my match history, I suck. I have NEVER attempted to cheat. What sucks is there will be a lot of people complain about the same thing that actually did cheat, and it ruins the ability to appeal for people that legitimately didn't do anything wrong. Hopefully someone from Riot looks into this, there are a lot of people on the forums complaining.

Another possible answer: if you have keyboard macros set up (self-programed, or via a Gaming keyboard's software), you can be punished if you use "Combo Macros", as in binding multiple actions/abilities/etc to one key. Example, you can't have a macro that let's you pull off an E->W->Q->R, or Flash->Q. If it does two or more actions in one button press, it's not allowed.

There are a lot of people in the forums right now with the same issue, and many of them have used Curse. I'm not saying it's causing everyone's issue, but it is concerning given the feedback in other threads.
