who is to blame when both people are being toxic?

BELOW IS ME AND SUPPORT GOING BACK AND FORTH ON THE SUBJECT OF HOW PLAYERS SHOULD DEAL WITH TOXIC CHAT. in my eyes people have every chance to avoid it and in doing so would make the game better. i just mute people before they get there and sometimes i forget to and then the trolling begins.

Tuesday at 13:33 the system set in place gives power to trolls overall you put this system in place as a way to not deal with the toxicity yourselves and that has cost me and many others money. i simple and easy way to deal with this is an auto mute feature for players who have been reported. auto mute for 2 weeks 4 weeks 6 weeks and if it continues take away the ability to chat all together. but to take away the game people put money into is pure theft and i will not stand for it. its a simple thing to fix and you have more than enough resources to do so. what i fail to understand if how people have the chat filter on and have to choose to take it off only to complain about the chat later. its like saying you hate the beach but wont move away from the beach. you are better than this RIOT or i would like to hope so because what i see is a money hungry entity stealing from people around the world.

SPRINKLEFLOOF Tuesday at 21:06 Hi there shellbullet,

If a player makes a void report, and there is no reasonable cause for a punishment, there will be none.

However, it looks like your account has been permanently banned because you were extremely toxic in your games. You continued to flame in your chats and that behavior is not tolerated nor endorsed by Riot. You have been given multiple warnings and restrictions but your recent negative actions have caused us to uphold your punishment.

Although this marks the end of the line, we’re confident that with some reflection you will be able to avoid this kind of situation with whatever new games you decide to play.

Best of luck in your future endeavors.

SHELLBULLET914 Friday at 16:42 i had one warning with a 2 week ban then i got the perma ban for being as toxic as the person trolling me? no matter how nice you put it you have not solved this issue. im not looking to get my account back as i have accepted that it is you business model to rob players you deem unworthy of playing this game i want future players to not be robbed like me and many others. your system can be very manipulated by trolling duos of any number of players playing together. by banning someones chat logs for an extended period of time you would instill this lesson you are so badly trying to instead of creating more angry gamers. the way it stands if im joking with someone and they are not offended but someone else is then the third party can make a report and i can be reprimanded now please explain how that makes sense when that third party has every choice available to not see what i say? your way is very flawed and if you as a company feel it is not i fear you will lose the fan base you grow in such a short time.

SPRINKLEFLOOF Friday at 22:17 Hello,

I am not here to argue with you I am just here to clarify things about your ban. I am sorry you feel this way but thank you for your feedback.

I wish you all the best.

SHELLBULLET914 Yesterday at 00:20 a generic answer only shows your companies true policy when dealing with facts. this is an issue whether you think it is or not. the way you dealt with the issue was not a 3 strike system nor was there a warning let alone the fact that you cant tell a joke from an attack. simply put stealing is not for you and that's what is going on. i can understand not saying mean things but to take jokes made in fun with people willing and ban someone for a third parties views is pointless and stupid.

SPRINKLEFLOOF Yesterday at 00:40 Hi,

I did not really know how to reply to your previous reply as there was not really a question. While we do have an escalation of (chat restriction, etc.) players can receive any type of punishment depending on the severity of their behavior for one game or it may take a few games. The thing is that even "jokes" become serious matters because they can be incredibly rude, or players can use the defense of a "joke" when a lot of players felt that it was inappropriate. People like humor, but to say something so toxic and say that it was a joke, is not justified.

If you have any suggestions for how we can improve the system I recommend posting to the Boards. The team is always looking at the Boards to get a feel for things players think could be improved.

You can find the Boards here:

I can't find a thread by you that was deleted -- was it posted on this account? If so, do you remember where?

Regardless, to answer your question -- if BOTH people are being toxic, than BOTH people are at fault. However, due to how the punishment system works (i.e. it's built in leniency for all but the worst offenses), it's possible that only one ends up punished for a specific game because the other has not yet accrued enough games reported to trigger the system. This does not mean they are getting away with it.

who is to blame when both people are being toxic?

Um... both? Possibly to varying degrees, but still ultimately both. Or do you think if two drunk drivers crash into each other only one of them would see punishment? Sure, one of those two might be more responsible for the crash than the other, but that doesn't mean they won't both be held responsible for their respective mistakes.

it was in misc and on this account 2 days ago it did post because i had the option to leave a comment. ok to further the debate if a player gets report by someone who is just upset they didnt do well would that trigger the system? and if yes when the chat logs are looked over do they check all players chat logs as in each player or is it just the reported?

{quoted}

i saw someone on there was banned for a year

When people say that, what they mean is that they were perma banned, and it's been a year since that occurred. It is not an additional punishment tier that was skipped for you.

who is to blame when both people are being toxic?

Both. And hopefully both will be punished. We are not in kindergarden anymore where everyone screams "B-b-but he started!!!" and everyone continues to throw sand into each others faces. You already got a warning that the next time you flame you will get a permanent ban, yet you ignored it and kept flaming. What did you expect would happen?

And Riot is not "robbing" you, no one forced you to pay money. You did it willingly so don't annoy the support staff with all this righteous talk of how you want to protect other players. You are a flamer who is salty that he lost his account, nothing more.

ok but what about the rest of the players? you completely overlooked my question?

SuicideAll7/31/2017, 1:26:14 AM1 votes

I'm sorry Riot insists on trying to shame you instead of focusing on the actual issues you have brought up.

Riot is pretty closed minded about player behavior. So don't get too worked up when they basically ignore you.

To simply answer the title of your post: There is no blame to be had, but both parties are guilty due to the rules set and enforced by Riot.

Just don't flame back, or at all and you won't get banned.
