Thoughts/ideas on feeding.

I had an idea that got time traction in another thread, so I figure I would share it in its own thread.

We have all played in games where someone is just feeding over and over. It's blowing the game for the rest of the team. We have all probably been that person. But, he ng a feeder isn't really intentional. However, I think most of us agree it's kind of toxic when someone is flirting between intentionally throwing and just not really trying to win.

I think if you totally give up on a game and you are intentionally feeding or trolling a ranked game. There should be a report option to report you on it. If you kda and other indicators reach a certain threshold and you get x amount of reports, you get an hour ban from ranked. Now this wouldn't count as toxic behavior on your account. It wouldn't effect other game modes. It would just be a "hey, you aren't ready or in the right mindset for ranked, take a break from it". That way, people can calm and take thier break, but also have a consequence for shitting on other people's games. You could even control it by giving players a limited amount of reports so people don't waste it on people just truly having a bad game.

Edit: not proposing a replacement for any current reporting/punishment systems. My premises are that it's hard to tell between actual inting in a lot of cases and that currently it's hard to actually get an inter punished.

At the risk of over simplifying, it breaks down into two ends.

  1. They are intentionally feeding (whether "hard" or "soft") and need to be banned for 14 days or perm (depends on if previous gameplay offense).

  2. They are NOT intentionally feeding and that is the end of that.

There already is a report option for intentionally feeding and griefing.

What you're doing is what is typically done by people who have unrealistic expectations. We see it here all the time. You are unable to separate intentional from unintentional feeding, and you want people to be punished because you lost a game or because they played poorly. That is never going to happen.

There is never going to be KDA-based punishment beyond what already exists - the punishment for playing poorly is losing games.

It would just be a "hey, you aren't ready or in the right mindset for ranked, take a break from it".

You are not the team captain, coach, or boss. You have no more standing to make these kinds of judgments on another player than they are for you.

If this doesn't sit well with you in a team-based game, then this is not the game for you.

im not voting in your poll, bc that meme is garbage

but no, the punishment for int'ing already exists, muddying the waters with half-cocked, hard to define parameters accomplishes nothing

I never understood this. What makes ranked so special? Why should other modes have to bare the burden of these people? You know what happened to people who are barred from the game mode they want to play but still able to play other game modes? Rito knows EXACTLY what will happen too. They take their frustration out on the other modes until they are able to return to the mode they want to play (in this case ranked).

People who play other game modes just as likely to buy skins and other stuffs as people who play ranked. What business sense would it makes to piss off every other game modes?

If my memory serves, sometimes in the 2014 (give or take a year of two), Rito already experimented with ranked restriction for a very brief amount of time. If you were toxic or reported a lot, you have to play X amount of games in normal draft (the version before TeamBuilder) before you are allowed back into ranked. You know what happened to that normal draft queue? Take a guess.

This did happened in live servers. Rito probably still have data from this horrible experiment even though it did not last long (I remember it went away just as fast as it was implemented). I somehow doubt they will want to go back to ranked restriction ever again (even officially said so that they don't want to do Prisoner's Island).
