Is not taking support item a punishable offense?

I while back I had lux that q'ed up as support. Not only was she constantly taking the car, she also didn't get the support item. (didn't get a sweeper long into the game either). I kind of feel this breaks the doability of the game, and therefore should be punished.

It is not required for the support to take the support item. It makes more sense for them to at the beginning so income isn't split in lane.

Is it a requirement? No. Is it a punishable offense? No. You can always ask them to take one but they don't want to then that's their choice and you shouldn't pester them about it. Besides if you notice your team needs something but no one is building it then you could always try adapting your build to suit the teams needs in that moment or two. If the player in question does start misbehaving though then you can always just report them after the game, just like they can report you if you yourself start throwing a fit for not getting your way.

You wrote this on a phone. xD

I know you meant to say cs, but I know that grand theft auto is definitely a criminal offense. :P

So, the supports are not required to take the support item, and what rujitra means is that if you flame your support for not having one, they're gonna make your lane even more hell than they already are if they decide to make a statement about it.

However, I'd say go ahead - ask them to get a support item, and when they start flaming you in chat and inting your lane for having the mentality of Nubrac, then your report is valid af. If they're essentially throwing anyway, then politely ask them to perform a corrective action, and when they pop off, mute them and report.

I don't know how not having a support item as support isn't a punishable offense. I don't think I ever saw anyone who intended to win play without it.

You aren't required to get a support item, but I suggest you get one first back at the latest. Its still 1k free gold, and some stats to sit on until you feel like selling it.

Starting item 2033 can be better than the support item for a lot of tanks. But you really want that income at some point. You lose less than 300g, while having a much stronger early game.

300 gold might sound like a lot, but you have to remember that its capped, which means you might have 300 less gold than you would have at your first back, but you can still gain another 300g that the enemy support cannot after theirs is finished, assuming quest progress is evenly paced.

Instead of finishing your quest at 20 minutes, you might finish it at 21 or 22 mins. You effectively lose no gold because there is an income cap.

I feel like it could be worth simply due to the damage and sustain that the item adds. It gives you WAY more agency in the super early game on pretty much any support.

If that gives your ADC a lead, its WELL worth it, as their lead will be controlling the lane more than you would finishing your support item 2 mins earlier.

You seem to have this notion that because the meta has traditionally has an ADC bot lane with a Support who gets a gold income item and funnels farm to the ADC that the game must be played this way. There are plenty of other strategies who run a duo carry bot lane and share CS. You think because you queued ADC that you are now entitled to the CS bot lane, which is false thinking on your part. Being that many people believe support income items aren't worth buying anymore, you will see a lot more people not purchasing the item and just sharing farm bot lane. You don't own the lane, you are sharing that lane with another person. If you don't like that, you should go to a solo lane where you likely won't have to share farm at all.

tl;dr: A support is not your bitch. Stop acting like you own bot lane.
