Friends account banned, need advice

So my buddy got into league a couple months ago. Well like half a year ago. he started play and got his account up so that he could get ranked to prove a point of not being in Iron and also have fun. However, he didnt like the meta at the time and slowly lost interest. I think his account made it to 30 but wasnt ranked yet. He stopped playing 4 months ago and just invested time into other games. So now he hasnt been on for months and the meta just changed because of preseason so he decided to get on his account and see what the game play is like.

Come to find out the account was perma banned for third party applications. He has never owned or used them. I lived with him and watched him play. Never did he cheat but was perma banned for that. Saying it is not reversable. There really was no justification for this ban. Is there anything he can even do? kinda just killed the experience of league for him. He wanted to get back into it but thats just dishearting. I know the account name but boards rules state i cant name drop accounts.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for looking at this post. Good luck out there.

Go to support. as this is the only way to deal with the problem. tell him to go to support.

You are allowed to name accounts as long as you aren't shaming them (for example: trying to get them punished).

But, in this case it wouldn't be much help. The forums can't do anything for them, only Support can.

You can have your friend check their match history, at op.gg or another site, and look for games that they didn't play. If their account was compromised when the action was detected, it's possible for them to get the account back. But, if they loaned their account out to a 'friend', reused an old password, or purchased a boosting service, then they're shit outta luck.

He gave away the account via a phishing site or lost it along with the connected email address. First thing to do is check a site like haveibeenpwned.com (tracks data breaches), reset the email password, check other connected accounts.

Second is to send a support ticket to riot requesting investigation, they can return the account with the right information.

Check the History. If he recollects playing any games at all which are listed there or not. But yes, if you (friend) has genuinely not tried any third party software then it should be a simple issue getting back your account from Riot. I've seen a few cases of hacked accounts which had people playing ranked on their accounts and getting them banned. Good luck!
