Become self critical, blame everything on yourself.

Good for you, that you want to improve and be a better, friendlier player!

My general thought is the only way to help your teammates is by encouragement and communication. I always try to give a quick "NJ" (nice job) or some sort of encouragement when a laner gets a tower, objective, or something.

What the other guy said. It's all your fault. Don't blame. Even if it is someone else's fault, it's NOT TO YOU. If someone flames you: ignore them. If you don't feel like you can, then mute them.

Mute everyone and/or turn off the chat. There are tutorials on how to do the second.

Here's a few tips that might help:

  • Don't hesitate to mute. If you get triggered off verbal, muting will help you avoid seeing those things

  • Look for things your teammates do right. If you tell your jungler thank you for ganking, or the ADC good job when he cleans up a team fight, not only will it make the game more fun, it'll encourage your teammates to be more willing to work with you.

  • Remember to take breaks. Marathoning games might get viewers if you stream, but if you find you're going on tilt, trying to continue will just be frustrating.

  • Think about the kind of music you listen to. Listening to Angry-at-the-world-kill-every-one music will prime you to be angry before the game even starts. Upbeat, high-energy to get you pumped without the anger is going to be far better.

  • FInd some friends who you can trust to remind you to stay classy (send me an invite. I'm not in game nearly as much as I'd like, but when I am, I'd be willing to play and help act as a buffer.)

Anyway, I hope some of this might help.

While I personally never raged in chat, I did blame my real life friends in voice chat and got mad at them. I nearly lost some friends over being mad at video games and I'm glad to see you've realized how bad its becoming for you and decided to start over and make the change in yourself. It's not easy, there's no one tip or trick to make being not mad at video games happen. For me, personally, it was always having somebody else play with me and giving them permission to shut me down if I started acting like I had in the past. If that's what it takes for you, then find somebody else that plays in real life and tell them to pull the plug if you start slipping.

Being mad isn't fun for anyone. Seriously, good job on even trying to turn that behavior around. That takes some guts, and I'm sure I'm not alone in saying the league community is totally behind you on this.

It just take time. It took me 5 years until I was no longer arrogant.
