I was recently banned for 14 days due to being toxic in one game. First off, ONE game? You're going to lock me off my account for 2 weeks due to a one-time toxicity? Second off, the only reason I was toxic was because the enemy team(made up of what I'm assuming was a trio queue due to it being flex queue) flamed me and constantly harassed me because I voiced in all chat that I thought Darius was op. The enemy ADC flamed me calling me mad and bad countless times along with the enemy support and mid laner. Although I admit, I did call Darius a "%%%" (which you will see in the chat logs) I can't believe that the enemy team did not get punished for harassing me all game. I also can't believe that I was instantly (within 2 minutes maximum) banned for 2 weeks. I completely believe that this ban was unjustified and was made hastily by the Instant Feedback team and deserves to be relooked at.

Here are my chat logs on what I typed (When I call jhin and lee mad and bad near the end, I was impersonated the enemy ADC.) For one simple word? The enemy team gets away scott-free even though they had harassed me all game? That doesn't seem fair. It seems to me that they had strength because they were a trio queue.

  1. Homophobic slurs are not okay in any context and escalate your punishment tier.

  2. Your action are your own. You are responsible for your own actions.

  3. If the others were reported they will get punished as well.(If they are toxic)

  4. 1 report is the same as 9 reports. It doesn't matter if they are a trio 1 report will flag the game for review.

Just a piece of advice. Take responsibility for your own actions and stop blaming others. You will be more successful in league and in life if you realize that your actions are your own and not anyone else's. While you may not have control over all things in life you do have control over your self and how you react to life.

Then how come the enemy team wasn't punished for harassment? Quoting directly from the Riot Games support section concerning account suspension "Regardless of the circumstances (such as provocation), behaviors such as in-game taunting, harassment, cursing, offensive remarks, intentionally feeding, intentionally not making a contribution to your team, etc., will be reported and likely punished by the Instant Feedback System." I emphasis the words and phrases "harassment" and "likely punished by the Instant Feedback System" According to this they should be punished for harassing me, although they were not. If they were differently tiered why wasn't I informed? This seems unfair to me.

Do you know them IRL. Are they on your friends list? You don't know if they were punished or not.

Stop worrying about if they were punished or not. IT DOESN'T MATTER.

Your punishment was valid. LEARN from it.

Take responsibility for your own actions.

You obviously don't care if yours is valid or not you want to whine and complain about "but but they weren't punished.... WAH WAH"

The more you whine the less anyone cares. You got caught being toxic and got punished. You are proving you are not learning from it. Pretty soon you will be perma banned.(which is the next tier of punishment after this btw) Looking forward to your thread when they perma you.

You seem as toxic as the enemy team I faced that game. I'm looking for a fair punishment system that I rightly have a say in, and with the way my punishment was handled it seems to me that numbers are favored over validity.

I never stated that I was toxic AS THEM. I merely stated I was toxic due to them harassing me all game. And as if you never attacked me calling me out for whining and complaining.

You know, I don't know, honestly you don't seem that bad, I don't know what they said but you getting a suspension was most likely due to previous experiences, mostly because getting banned takes many reports against one individual over a long while

If I was being toxic in previous games, shouldn't I work my way up the ladder starting at the bottom? And also if that's true shouldn't I have had more chat logs showing where I had previously been toxic?

You can't be sure the state they're in on the punishment ladder.

You were apparently up for a 14-day ban the next time you crossed the line. The poor behavior you displayed wasn't limited to just that one word, lines like;

How can that be possible when I only had one chat log showing why I was banned? If it was because I had done previously punishable things then why wasn't I notified that I was considered toxic to the community? Like I said, I said those words as a defense after the enemy team harassed me.

That's not defense, that's retaliatory harassment.

A defense would be muting them.

The system operates on a progressive ladder punishment. If the last punishment you received was a 25-game chat restriction, it makes the next punishment a 14-day ban if within a certain number of games/days.

just because they show you one (recent) game, doesn't mean you weren't validly reported in multiple games.

Hate speech is not tolerated so it will skip punishment tiers.

Keep in mind your next punishment is a permaban, and the system currently has deemed you to be extremely toxic. Any mild chat that qualifies as a valid report will get you punished.

If you value your account, I suggest you /muteall and don't chat until you get a system notification that you have reformed.

Still doesn't answer the question of "Why didn't the enemy team get punished for their harassment?" I believe it was only due to them being all together, so the instant feedback system doesn't value 1 " report over 3.

Also keep in mind that the report system is not a voting based system nor a popularity contest. 1 report is enough to flag the system to check for toxicity. Multiple reports doesn't increase the chances of someone getting punished.

The system was purposely implemented this way to prevent gang reports on a solo player whilst being against premades.

The way you say this makes me think the Instant Feedback system is a bot that looks for key, offensive words. For example, hypothetically I could be playing with a 5 man premade and type in that one of my friends is one of those offensive words. Then the game goes on without me saying anything to the enemy team, or anything to my team. Then say that some of the enemy team was mad that I beat them in lane and they decided to unlawfully report me. They Instant Feedback System goes into effect and sees that I typed in an offensive word and bans me. This makes me see the flaw in the system if that is the case.

The Instant Feedback System (IFS) is an automated bot.

  • It does look for keywords
  • It is able to identify regular banter between friends (even if it is toxic)
  • It learns from what the community thinks is toxic
  • People get punished in their own time when they hit the punishment thresholds
  • The system will filter and throw out false reports
  • IFS has 99.9% accuracy and hands out punishments between 5-15 mins of a game's end

It seems to me the system filtered out my report as a false report. Quoting directly from the Riot Games support, "The League of Legends community is empowered to report players they believe have violated the Summoner's Code and consistently created a negative experience in games. Regardless of the circumstances, behaviors such as in-game taunting; harassment, offensive remarks, intentionally feeding, etc., will be reported by the community and if warranted punished by the Instant Feedback System." it states that harassment will likely be punished by the System. Did I just get unlucky and he didn't get punished?

You have no way of knowing whether they will end up punished for your reports or not. If they were not at the punishment threshold yet, then they will not be issued a punishment until they reach it. If/when they reach it, the only person who will be notified is the last person to submit a report on them. Which, if it is not you, means you won't be told about it.

there are a couple of scenarios here:

  1. If you have filed alot of false reports, the system just seems you as spamming the report button and lowers your report weight. Eventually ignoring your reports.O

  2. The other people you reported hasn't reach their punishment threshold;

For example (and the numbers are made up here); let's say the system would punish someone if they had 10 games of toxicity and the % of games they were toxic in is > 30%. If they were 8/10 games into the punishment, then your report would bring them to 9/10 games.

In this scenario, you wouldn't receive a punishment notification. Even if they did get punished down the road, Riot wouldn't notify you about it.

The way the notifications work right now makes people think the system isn't working, which is a problem Riot has acknowledged. They call it 'Behavioral system lacking visibility' and will probably launch improvements after the new client is up and running smoothly.

Riot does tend to take the use of hate speech fairly seriously, and while it was only one word of it, it is present. If you add that in with the other verbal abuse, then I can see why this game led to you being reported by your teammates.

As far as why it led to a 14 day suspension, this is probably not the only game that led to your punishment. Riot sends you the recent chat logs in your reform card, but that doesn't mean they are the only instances of reports that you have received. Recent comments by Rioter's in some of these threads have listed as many as 75 reports on a thread poster from the time of their last punishment to the time of their ban, in a very short span of time, when they were sent 3-4 games worth of chat logs. So, while it may look like you are being banned just because of this one game, that is probably not the case. If you would like more information on it, you can always submit a ticket to player support asking for a bit of clarification as to whether there were other games/reports beyond this one.

One last thing, as you have been issued a temporary suspension, please, for your own sake be cautious. You are at the third tier of punishment, and ANY further violations of the terms of use can/will result in a permanent suspension of your account. It doesn't have to be a large infraction, and it can take many months for you to drop back down to one of the lower tiers of punishment (I've seen anywhere from 2-7 months). As you have seen from this ban, even the use of a single word of hate speech is enough to flag an account for a ban.

There's nothing to debate here. You used a homophobic slur, which Riot has a clear zero-tolerance policy for. You're lucky that your apparently otherwise clean account got away with only a 14-day ban. Many get immediately perma'd for doing that. Nothing else really matters, ESPECIALLY not the words/actions of the other players. You're responsible for yourself.

That said, you were fairly unpleasant for the rest of the chat log, too. I wouldn't have been surprised to see this log contribute to a chat restriction, absent the slur.
