Norms vs ranked question

So I always thought Norms were an incredible waste of time, so I never played them. Last night though I got so tilted at a game I played because of teammates (yeh I know look within and all that, bs sometimes it really is your teammates) that I swore off ranked and decided to try norms for the hell of it.

Its the most fun I've had playing league in a long time!!!

I get to try different champs, different roles, hardly any flaming if at all, I seem to have better overall quality games, though small sample size 11 games so far.

TLDR; So what gives? Is the 'pressure' really too much for people or what is it? Why are norms more fun?

I think many people think their rank will make them rich, grow their manhood, give them a nice car or spouse...

People take League too seriously imo

I think norms can be more fun sometimes because it doesn't stress people out as much as ranked. You can focus more on just having fun when you don't have the pressure to perform well hanging over you.

I love normal games. In seasons 5 and 6 I just did my 10 placements and went back to normal games. I felt nervous about ruining other people's games because I wasn't good enough and I didn't know how to play enough Champions, so I mastered—i.e. got mastery 5 on—Champion after Champion in normal games. It was fun even though I was trying hard to win every game. This season I felt I was good enough to get to Gold V, so I have started to work my butt off in all three ranked queues. I find it a lot harder to have fun in-game because I know how close I am to my goal and if a match goes wrong then I am further away from my goal. It makes me more frustrated than normal games, but I have so far been able to keep my in-game chat extremely positive. I wonder if ranked just makes people jaded. Now I don't find normals much fun anymore either because I really want to work towards my goal of Gold V. I haven't even played much ARURF this weekend. :(
