AFK people need to be punished more IMHO.

I just want to say, first of all, that I know I suck. Hitting Gold would be my "top goal" for this game honestly. So, before you guys go saying "you suck", this has nothing to do with anyone's skill at all. Mine or any other teammates I've had.

Now, I've been playing LOL for about three years now. I've played a lot of bots and a lot of ARAM. I own ALL the champs and several skins. I like League of Legends in general, but I've never really gotten into the "official" pvp. This year, I decided to try. When I got out of the first trial thing, I was placed in Bronze III and my very first game there is an AFK.

I've had AFKs in matches before, like I said I've played a lot of bots and a lot of ARAM.. some normal matches too. I've won something like 300+ matches the entire time I've played the game. AFK people were never really a big deal. But, with this ranked thing, it's much more a big deal. I really don't understand why there isn't more of a punishment system in this game for this.

I get it that stuff happens sometimes. Electricity goes out, storms hit and take out internet etc. But, I get the feeling there are people that do this AFK think a LOT. I know there are punishments for people that DO do it a lot, but at the same time, it doesn't seem to be helping. I'm basing this off of my friends who play ranked a LOT more than me and are WAY better at the game than I am. They warned me that "bronze sucks and the #1 reason is because about every third or fourth match you'll get an AFK and it will throw the match.

I think AFK people should lose MORE placement than other people. Maybe it should only happen if you've went AFK a few times, but it's not right that that the team has to pay for it too and so little is done about them doing it in the future.

I think after a while, people should be ban from ranked for a while if they go AFK too much. The "timer" thing isn't working. It needs to be longer for repeat offenders. Very frustrating. Thanks for listening.

I've always said this.

Each game should be worth X LP to each team. X would be defined as the implied skill difference between the teams. Evenly matched teams might gain or lose 15 LP from a match. If the scales are weighted in one team's favor, that team might be able to gain 10 or lose 20, while the "weaker" team gains 20 or loses 10 for the game.

But whatever X is, let's show how it should affect AFKs.

There's 5 players on a team. So the total LP gained or lost is 5X. Normally this is split across all five players evenly.

But let's say there's an AFK!

If the team with the AFK player loses, we could defer all LP loss to the AFK player(s) without affecting how much LP is gained by the winning team.

1 player AFK with AFK loss -- 4 present players lose 0 LP and 1 AFK player loses 5X LP. 2 players AFK with AFK loss -- 3 present players lose 0 LP and 2 AFK players lose (5/2)X LP each. 3 players AFK with AFK loss -- 2 present players lose 0 LP and 3 AFK players lose (5/3)X LP each. 4 players AFK with AFK loss -- 1 present player loses O LP and 4 AFK players lose (5/4)X LP each.

Let's now examine the odd scenario where the team with the AFK player pulls off a win. That is an incredible feat of skill and should be rewarded as such, but without affecting how much LP is lost by the losing team.

1 player AFK with AFK win -- 4 present players gain (5/4)X LP each and AFK player gains 0. 2 players AFK with AFK win -- 3 present players gain (5/3)X LP each and AFK players get 0. 3 players AFK with AFK win -- 2 present players gain (5/2)X LP each and AFK players get 0. 4 players AFK with AFK win -- 1 present player gains 5x LP and AFK players get 0.

To discourage duo queue duo AFK, if A and B queue together and A goes AFK, B is not also considered AFK unless B also goes AFK. If B was considered AFK because of A's AFK, then B would get 0 for a win and (5/2)X for a loss regardless of if they went AFK or not, so there would be no reason to not AFK as B.

AFKs in promo series would work differently. If the player in a promo series does NOT AFK, but someone on their team does, it counts as nothing towards their promos. If the player in a promo series is the one who goes AFK, then they instantly lose their promo series.

Ultimately what this would cause is for all the players who don't AFK (regardless of if they're bad or not) to start filtering up to Bronze 4/3 and for the repeat AFKers to fall to Bronze 5 quickly. Bronze 5 would become a zone of constant AFKs and multiple AFKs per match.

We could ultimately create a division below Bronze that can only be entered through AFKing. This Tin division would only have repeat AFKers and would have to be climbed back out of by being present for all your games. With as many repeat AFKers as Tin would have, this alone would likely guarantee that you never lose LP, which would teach people in Tin not to AFK for when they get back into Bronze.

Isnt getting ban/restriction+ losing game+ lower priority queue enouogh of a punishment?
