My account got banned for apparently using 3rd party, when all I've ever used was Overwolf

Copying from reddit post, hoping for some kind of help if possible.

"So, been playing this game for years, and after I saw Sneaky use Overwolf on stream a couple times, it looked like something that was useful. Did the research, figured it was ok to use because I know it's a 3rd party program, but after seeing Riot Employees saying that it was given the green light, I just hit with a permaban. I emailed support and they said that their stance was going to stand. I'm freaking Silver 2, I was Gold 5 last season and was using it then, hell, I've been using LoLWiz and the Replay HUD (which Sneaky even endorses) for the better part of 2 years, and NOW I get the random permaban? Sorry to rant reddit, I just don't want my account that I have invested in to, to just get throw into customer support and hoping maybe a little exposure could shed some light on the situation."

I know people will say that I obviously was using something to get the ban, so why even complain about it if I got caught, but the sad thing is, I haven't used a single program to that would even be considered 3rd party (except Overwolf, which has been stated as being given the OK) so, I don't know what else to do.

Like all the other players that were banned in this recent wave, random forum members don't have the information to judge if you're telling the truth, nor the power to do anything about it.

This is something that you must contact Riot through support about, but it will be an uphill battle since this ban is essentially them thinking you cheated. Proving otherwise will be incredibly difficult since they can't reveal their detection methods for the sake of keep the detection relevant.

Same thing happened to me today. They banned my main 4+ years, $100 worth of riot points, never used any 3rd party software whatsoever.

The problem with these posts is that 99% of the time the person making the post used a 3rd party program for an advantage that isn't allowed as well as the programs they are mentioning. No one on the forums can do anything to help you and the perspective of the vast majority of the people that read these posts are "Oh another person got caught cheating and is now blaming it on an allowed program."

Just put in a support ticket and hope for the best. Honestly I doubt they will remove the ban. The best thing people can do is not use any 3rd programs at all when playing league. You are 99.999% guaranteed to not have this problem if you don't use any 3rd party programs at all.

Overwolf is fine, there's something else you're either not telling us or not aware of.

Something that happens to some people is that their account gets used by another player and that player uses cheating software. Sometimes this is someone who found out the password and was playing at times you weren't. Check your match history for any games that weren't played by you.

whats overwolf?

also, just for a test, run overwolf on another account and tell us the results after a while. If you get banned again, you know. otherwise you can use this as proof to get your account unblocked

Hey power of 9, same thing happened to me today. And there are things we can do about it. I have a background in law and computer science and if enough people are affected by this, there's a lot of things we can do. If we can get everybody that this happened to together, there's a number of options. First and foremost is to persist contacting Riot. Secondly, contacting the Attorney General in your state. Third, class-action lawsuit. Keep in touch and try to find as many of the other people making forum and Reddit posts about this. Within the coming days I'll work on making a central thread or site from which we can coordinate our efforts. Hopefully it doesn't have to come to anything serious, I like Riot and I'm hoping they can admit when they broke this.

I got banned today as well for apparently the same reason even though I have never used a 3rd party program. It seems like most the bans are coming from accounts that are years old. I have been playing since season 1. Hundreds of dollars spent and then get wrongfully banned. I have never let anyone else on my account or play LOL on my computer. I just don't understand and I am not going to stop asking until I get unbanned because they have no real grounds to ban me. I have never cheated or let anyone else on my account. Hopefully I can get this fixed soon. Good luck to you as well.

i just got perma banned for using 3rd party programs but i havent used nothing for over 4 years im playing this game....
