Why i consider myself a "defensive" toxic player
This is a touchy subject, toxic behavior. we all have seen it, we all have been toxic at least once. Some people (like me), are toxic more than others. Now i'll admit I've said a few choice words once or twice to that bot lane with a combined KDR of 3/18/5, or to that opposing top laner who spammed the mastery emote all game. But what if you are one of those players who goes into a game in a good mood and leaves in a bad one cause of another toxic player? It's like the saying "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" but i'm one of those people who will hit you with a rock if you talk crap about me. Does that make it okay? No, but do we do it anyway? Hell yeah.
Example: Me top lane, Nasus. opponent, Riven
Now i'm a lowly Bronze 2 player i'm no ZionSpartan, my game knowledge is, sub par. Me being my cocky self was expecting this riven to be like all the others in normal games who just spam abilities and dive your tower. Having played Nasus for 200+ games i felt i knew what i was doing and could handle this Riven no problem, that was not the case. i spent the whole game "farming" under tower, or trying to anyway. My Jungler, Rengar did come top to gank a couple times but one of us would die each time, he then gave up and went to ganking mid and bot only. With rengar now gone riven began a slow but steady push through my outer, middle and then inhibitor turrets. By 20 minutes i had about the number of stacks i would normally have at about 9 mins into the game (about 120). All the while my support yelling at me saying i was feeding and i should refund my infernal nasus skin. After so long i finally had it, i went on the offensive and began trash talking back and a total firestorm erupted from it. least to say we surrendered at about 22 minutes in and the "report so and so" filled all chat. the after game lobby wasn't any better and ended with me slamming as many keys as possible into the chat bar (aethfawoeoghsocghghwwoaoadghsaovodnhaosjodgngnaspaoodg) i was now what we call "Tilted". so i did the only thing a mature person would do, i took the league launcher icon on my desktop and put it in the recycling bin (renamed The Salt Mines).
Now i could go on a tear and rant about a number of games with similar outcomes, which makes me wonder how I've yet to have been banned. But back tracking to my point sometimes you can only put up with so much before you snap like a twig.
But why not just mute them?
Well I've had games where i did mute someone and they proceeded to continue antagonizing me through the game itself
Example
while playing a game as twitch i accidentally hit Krugs one too many times and killed one of them, my jungler who was playing tahm kench proceeded to camp bottom lane and eat me and spit me into the other teams turret no less than 6 times. within 10 minutes the other teams adc had 12 kills.
Well that's why we have the tribunal
Have you clicked the link to it at the bottom of the page recently? if not go do that now and you'll have your answer.
You shouldn't let what other people say get to you
I've read of wars that have started because of things as petty as arguing in game chat, human nature dictates you take no crap from other people
But enough excuses let me make one final point. This game is a highly competitive game, it's an Esport for crying out loud, you want to win and you can't always win and people will look for a scapegoat to blame for their failures. it's the fight or flight mentality we will either run from our problems or we will respond to them aggressively and in an environment where we are behind a computer screen we tend to be more on the fight side of it.
If anyone wants to discuss this matter further i can have a mature and well mannered conversation despite my salty ways.
