Why i consider myself a "defensive" toxic player

This is a touchy subject, toxic behavior. we all have seen it, we all have been toxic at least once. Some people (like me), are toxic more than others. Now i'll admit I've said a few choice words once or twice to that bot lane with a combined KDR of 3/18/5, or to that opposing top laner who spammed the mastery emote all game. But what if you are one of those players who goes into a game in a good mood and leaves in a bad one cause of another toxic player? It's like the saying "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" but i'm one of those people who will hit you with a rock if you talk crap about me. Does that make it okay? No, but do we do it anyway? Hell yeah.

Example: Me top lane, Nasus. opponent, Riven

Now i'm a lowly Bronze 2 player i'm no ZionSpartan, my game knowledge is, sub par. Me being my cocky self was expecting this riven to be like all the others in normal games who just spam abilities and dive your tower. Having played Nasus for 200+ games i felt i knew what i was doing and could handle this Riven no problem, that was not the case. i spent the whole game "farming" under tower, or trying to anyway. My Jungler, Rengar did come top to gank a couple times but one of us would die each time, he then gave up and went to ganking mid and bot only. With rengar now gone riven began a slow but steady push through my outer, middle and then inhibitor turrets. By 20 minutes i had about the number of stacks i would normally have at about 9 mins into the game (about 120). All the while my support yelling at me saying i was feeding and i should refund my infernal nasus skin. After so long i finally had it, i went on the offensive and began trash talking back and a total firestorm erupted from it. least to say we surrendered at about 22 minutes in and the "report so and so" filled all chat. the after game lobby wasn't any better and ended with me slamming as many keys as possible into the chat bar (aethfawoeoghsocghghwwoaoadghsaovodnhaosjodgngnaspaoodg) i was now what we call "Tilted". so i did the only thing a mature person would do, i took the league launcher icon on my desktop and put it in the recycling bin (renamed The Salt Mines).

Now i could go on a tear and rant about a number of games with similar outcomes, which makes me wonder how I've yet to have been banned. But back tracking to my point sometimes you can only put up with so much before you snap like a twig.

But why not just mute them?

Well I've had games where i did mute someone and they proceeded to continue antagonizing me through the game itself

Example

while playing a game as twitch i accidentally hit Krugs one too many times and killed one of them, my jungler who was playing tahm kench proceeded to camp bottom lane and eat me and spit me into the other teams turret no less than 6 times. within 10 minutes the other teams adc had 12 kills.

Well that's why we have the tribunal

Have you clicked the link to it at the bottom of the page recently? if not go do that now and you'll have your answer.

You shouldn't let what other people say get to you

I've read of wars that have started because of things as petty as arguing in game chat, human nature dictates you take no crap from other people

But enough excuses let me make one final point. This game is a highly competitive game, it's an Esport for crying out loud, you want to win and you can't always win and people will look for a scapegoat to blame for their failures. it's the fight or flight mentality we will either run from our problems or we will respond to them aggressively and in an environment where we are behind a computer screen we tend to be more on the fight side of it.

If anyone wants to discuss this matter further i can have a mature and well mannered conversation despite my salty ways.

Something similar happened to me. Picked my support, then here comes ADC Teemo. Let me clarify, someone took Teemo when they hsould have taken an ADC. He wasn't actually ADC as he was full AP. Which considereing that our ADC was gonna be our only AD. We go about the game, and Leo grabs me two times over the course of time and I die both times as a Sona is basically dead every time Leo grabs her. He starts to call me a piece of shit feeder and so forth so I flat out tell him that I don't have to tolerate him talking to me that way so I chose to support top who was appreciative of the help and needed it anyways. About this time the jungle and the Teemo both spam in chat calling me a %%%% over and over again. I didn't really type anything back to them about it because I'm a guy, and considering that 90% of us are probably guys the word %%%% isn't actually an insult. That's an insult to girls exclusively, but whatever I suppose. Anyways, I decided that this was definitely not a team that would be worth a damn to support in teamfights (since teemo and our jun had both stood there and watched me die while they spammed laugh at one point) so I opted for a wave clear build, or at least as much of one as Sona can have. Get to the end of the game, and I'm suspended. No, not chat banned, not warned, fucking suspended. No idea why I'm suspended. I wasn't an asshole. I was actually nicer than I usually am to people like that, and even then I mostly just mute and move on. Well, now that Riot has proved to me that only the jerks here are treated right I have this smurf account, and I'm actively using it to be the biggest asshole I can be. So far I've made someone AFK every single game since my main account got banned, and you know what? I have yet to even get a warning about it. One game we got into game and I said, "I'm taking ADC from you now so get to the fucking top lane you noob ass piece of shit, in fact, AFK because no one needs you here and no one likes you". They did afk, and I have not been in trouble for it even a little. Like you said, I'm a grown ass fucking man, if someone came at me with an attitude like they get on here....well, I"m from the fucking south, not only would I beat your ass for it, if you called the cops they'd tell you you deserved it for being a prick. Also, if a rito is reading this, even the cops understand that if someone is a prick then you need a bigger prick to take them down. Saying stop it or you're in trouble doesn't keep assholes in their places, however, getting a black eye and a fat lip every time you say something rude, well, that will make you filter your thoughts before you speak them. Was taht example too straightforward? Here, let me make a more metaphorical one. Do you know how they prevent forest fires from spreading? They burn all the grass and greenery around the perimeter of the fire so once it reaches somewhere that matters it has no more fuel and dies out. You can't stop your forest fire Riot. Yea, you spray some water at it and put out a flame or two, but the only way you will ever stop it from spreading is if you find someone who knows how to make and control fire even better. Until the moment this is realized, or until I get my actual account back, I'm going to make things hell for everyone else since you've proven to me that it's the only safe way to not get reported into oblivion. If you side with the trolls and hate creators you're going to kill your game. Not now, probably not in the immediate future, but I do know I was the last of all my friends to play League. The rest left because of all the trolls and shit that you've let run rampant so somewhere the profits have to be hurting. Now, I'm gonna go to bed now which means I have to start a game so once it gets going I can AFK and go to sleep. Good job on making another troll Riot. How's this for reformed?

Enjoy your chat restriction.

This is a stupidly simple concept that people seem to have a hard time with. It can be described as thus:

Just because someone else is being toxic doesn't give you the right or justification to be toxic either.

Nobody wants to see that shit, nobody wants to deal with it. Anytime someone starts reacting to trolling in one of my games, you know what I do? The troll is reported of course, but so is the person reacting because they're behaving just as badly.

But back tracking to my point sometimes you can only put up with so much before you snap like a twig.

We're talking about what words you decide to type into the client. Is your level of personal emotional control so weak that you are compelled by some invisible force to spam chat?

Tribunal has been replaced with an automated system. (Judging by your comment towards the tribunal I don't think you know the AI very well).

Basically, any time a report is filed against a player, that game is flagged. And no, let me stop you right there. NUMBER OF REPORTS DOESN'T MATTER. So quit all the bitching (not you specifically) about premades "group reports" getting you banned. Once enough reports have been filed, the system looks at the games, sees if anything is the matter, and if it finds something punishment worthy, you get punished.

The reports, of course, have to be frequent enough in order for a case to be seen. In some cases, a case is manually reviewed, so it would be important for you to put down specific things AI might not pick up in the dialog box of the report. If the AI does ban someone, a notification is sent to the last person who reported the individual. If reports are found to be false, the person doing the reporting will have less weight the next few reports.

But regardless, I would like to raise the point that flaming back isn't helpful. I mean, sure, it's sometimes hard not to say something. I'm a smartass with a bit of a temper too, and sometimes it's hard not to talk back at the person whose words really, really annoy you. But in the end, flaming back in chat basically does nothing. It's not like typing "fuck you you suck more" in chat will help your mood in the end nor make you play better. You are just proving in a roundabout way that they are right about you being a piece of shit.

I mean, I won't report you or anything, personally it could be funny if the person firing back makes intelligent insults, but most of the time, it's just a matter of how many idiots there are in the game. For example, if there's a pile of garbage on the floor in my room, I won't be happy about it, it's annoying and disgusting enough by itself. But that is still infinitely better than having two piles of garbage sitting on the floor in my room trying to get one up over the other.
