Ask nicely, if they said yes, you're lucky, if no, better luck next time. Also, in a 2-man, 3-man, 4-man queue and want to swap a role with a solo q player? Always ask them nicely and tell them that you're in a 2-man, 3-man, 4-man queue with those guys. It can improve team play and the future result of the game.
I always address it by asking if the player that has my preffered role, would like to play the role I have. If not, I give a simple kk np. If so I give a big thankyou and honors. It blows my mind seeing people that just demand roles or treat you like shit if you don't give your role up. Like were you not taught any manners growing up? The entitledness (is that a word? :P) is strong in this community lol

preferably don't ask at all, some people including me will be hostile to you regardless how "polite" you would ask because the act of asking is already a huge rudeness
When playing with a 3-man premade I am often forced to go ADC as secondary, but i am not a good ADC. If i get ADC i will always ask nicely if i can have mid, often it is no, but if it is yes, I try my best even more. I do not get why everyone is so unhappy with this community, of course it could be that I am lucky with teams, but I love my teams. To think that I was once toxic. I am happy this game showed me that flaming and raging does not improve how your team plays.
