Are people really this small-minded?

So I wanted to play a draft game thinking I'd do a little warm up with Lux before playing ranked, because I got used to her and mages seem to be good supports in ranked, etc. Anyways, I got a premade that first banned my champ, Lux, because "you were going to take Doran's ring", and then continued to harass me in game and let the enemies kill me because "Lux is not a supp, she's mid" and I'm "trolling".

Of course, I picked Brand and took Doran's ring out of spite, because:

  1. It doesn't matter, it's still AP and mana, god forbid somebody else actually buys a ward and uses it. No, I don't usually take the ring as support, but what if I did? Is it another case of "you will steal my kills if you build damage?"
  2. What gives them the right to tell me what to play in my lane? If I was gonna take Yasuo, fine, by all means. But really, they have a problem with Lux support?

I just wanted to share my experience and see whether this is something that actually happens or was I just so unlucky to run into kids who know so little about the game? Are the premades usually so entitled, they feel like they can tell "the randoms" what to play and how to build?

Some people have bad experiences with people playing certain champions and don't want those champions in lane with them. I've had a lot of Lux supports who were actually autofilled and proceeded to play support like they would mid. They went out of their way to ensure that I never got kills and died every possible way I could, flaming me the entire way. Personally, I'd don't like mage/damage supports. I main Jhin so I have no mobility or escape most of the time. I prefer a shied or a heal over more damage most of the time. It mostly just depends on the person. If you're worried about your pick getting banned by your team you should probably hover them after the ban phase so your team isn't like 'oh we cant have that in our Christian draft norms game'.

I'm a Taliyah main, have been for like 6 months.

On my main, I remember a few days ago getting Taliyah banned from my own teammates after I declared her because he "couldn't stand another inting Taliyah." Great, this guys toxic. Muted him, carried on Lux, but purposely ignored him when he got into trouble jungle (although he did very well in that game too, it was essentially a two person carry). But seriously, why do people have to act like this?

Then I was in a norms premade with a Shaco mid and Janna + Corki botlane while I was Taliyah jungle, against a five-man premade with a diamond and plat player with four supports (Janna, Karma, Lulu, Ivern) and Master Yi jungle. Granted, I'm not great at jungle, but the botlane somehow got double-killed by Karma and Ivern, the Shaco was pushed up to tower constantly and barely had any CS nor health, and our toplaner basically tried to shove in a Diamond Lulu (my main's in Gold) before getting solo killed once and Yi ganked way too many times. I got off a kill or two mid and a few off bot, but there was nothing I could do without a normal team comp or a coordinated team against a Plat/Diamond "support the Yi" comp.

Of course the Premade flamed me for troll-picking Taliyah jungle, and the top reported me for inting and not having jungle pressure (when he was out-CSed and constantly pushing up to Lulu). His words were "I bet you watch NB3 and troll-pick like him, Taliyah is only good in Korea High-ELO."

It's fine, it was a norms game, and an interesting one at that, but why do people have to act like they're not the problem constantly?

It happens occasionally with lesser META picks. But even if you took yasuo support and went for kills, it's not really trolling.

Non-CS supports are certainly META, but not adhering to the META is not trolling.
