please explain to me the phrase "the point of games is to have fun, and you have fun by winning''

usually this is also accompanied by a surrender vote when the game looks bleak

but even when i'm losing (somehow especially if i'm losing) i am always having fun, its just even more satisfying shutting down the 7/0 vayne because that requires you to outplay them or pull some crazy shit (i love me some crazy shit) Kled

but i cant understand the mentality some people have only having fun if they're stomping, not just your laner but every single lane. and if they cant then they don't see why they should even play.

i would like to hear from some people who think this way to comment. please keep it clean though

some people play to win, and not to run around doing stupid shit as the game drags on for 30 minutes.

Because folks lack empathy, and don't understand that sources of happiness aren't universal.

Because some people have limited time for games and when you're obviously losing, why waste time 40 min when you can stop at 15 and try your luck in another game? In this case, my goal is to make the best of what time I have for games, and playing a losing game for 40 min just because somebody like you, no offense, is learning his champ/trying out crazy stuff/practicing pvp, is really more frustrating than fun for me. It also depends on the situation, if somebody in your team has fed an enemy player so much that the enemy player is 4-5 lvls above you and can oneshot your entire team, there really isn't much room for fun there.

I only have this view for ranked, so keep that in mind. I am trying to climb, so games where 4 lanes feed are not worth playing the 40 min to come back. it would be much more time effective to ff at 15 or 20 and get into another more temperate game.

If I have a 70% winrate with camille this season, and we look like we are losing, I know i have a big chance of winning the next game. I also know there is a small chance we are winning this one, so for me personally it would be better to just FF.

I understand comebacks happen, but you have to understand they don't happen often.

its about maximizing fun to me.

is it possible to have some fun in a lost game? yes. but it is more fun to be in a competitive game or a game where i am winning. so i surrender when it looks bad and try to spend my time having as much fun as i can.

I mean... one type of person (not trying to generalize) that comes to mind with such an attitude are probably people who lack moments of success in real life. When people lack success in one aspect of life (for example carreer) they try to compensate for it in another (for example video games).

Those people probably really can't have fun while losing, simply because it reminds them of the less succesful parts of their life. Admittedly I have absolutely no idea why they'd play a game that makes them lose half their games on average, though.

I like crazy shit too. My favorite Kat penta will always be the time i ran out on the enemy team seconds before the game ended and dived in knowing we had lost anyways. Jumped right in, penta killed and then the game ended from minions.

Cos problem solving is too hard for them.

Losing isn't fun for everyone. Not many people enjoy losing LP either. Winning makes you feel powerful, especially if its a stomp. Winning also gets you LP which makes you feel nice and warm inside if you win enough.

Also, when your losing lane, it definitely not fun getting zoned off the wave constantly and its also not fun getting poked out of lane cause your enemy is ahead. When you are winning lane but your team is losing, its not fun getting 4 man ganked and suddenly losing any advantage you built up.
