@Riot, We NEED to Have Punishments for This
It isn't the first time this has happened to me, but I just queued up for ranked and the player who got Support insisted that he traded roles with me on Mid. When his champions were banned, he still wanted either Top or Mid, so Support wasn't even his actual secondary role. When asked why he queued up for Support if he never had the intention of playing it, he said "To get shorter queue times".
This behavior is incredibly selfish and often leads to at least one person not being able to play a role they wanted. When I notified the player of this, he said something along the lines of "How is it selfish if you get a free win [implying he was going to carry]?" Because the player was earlier in the pick order to me, he locked in Riven and would have forced me to play Support, a role I have little to no experience with, had I not dodged.
Please Riot, there needs to be a way to monitor and punish players who abuse the system.
EDIT: There's been a fantastic suggestion of introducing a dodge vote. It would work exactly how you would expect it to, initiate it in champion select, if the team agrees 4-1 to dodge, then it's a dodge. I understand this could be an issue with duos and trios, and it should definitely be disabled with four man premades, but it'll be better nothing. Also, we have the surrender vote unchanged for premades and that seems fine.
EDIT 2: Furthermore, dodges passed by voting should not incur any penalties.
EDIT 3: Perhaps we should be allowed to vote on one particular player being unsportsmanlike. The system could then kick the player out of the queue and requeue the remaining four to considerably shorten their queue time.
