@Riot, We NEED to Have Punishments for This

It isn't the first time this has happened to me, but I just queued up for ranked and the player who got Support insisted that he traded roles with me on Mid. When his champions were banned, he still wanted either Top or Mid, so Support wasn't even his actual secondary role. When asked why he queued up for Support if he never had the intention of playing it, he said "To get shorter queue times".

This behavior is incredibly selfish and often leads to at least one person not being able to play a role they wanted. When I notified the player of this, he said something along the lines of "How is it selfish if you get a free win [implying he was going to carry]?" Because the player was earlier in the pick order to me, he locked in Riven and would have forced me to play Support, a role I have little to no experience with, had I not dodged.

Please Riot, there needs to be a way to monitor and punish players who abuse the system.

EDIT: There's been a fantastic suggestion of introducing a dodge vote. It would work exactly how you would expect it to, initiate it in champion select, if the team agrees 4-1 to dodge, then it's a dodge. I understand this could be an issue with duos and trios, and it should definitely be disabled with four man premades, but it'll be better nothing. Also, we have the surrender vote unchanged for premades and that seems fine.

EDIT 2: Furthermore, dodges passed by voting should not incur any penalties.

EDIT 3: Perhaps we should be allowed to vote on one particular player being unsportsmanlike. The system could then kick the player out of the queue and requeue the remaining four to considerably shorten their queue time.

It is punishable. Just report for unsportsmanlike conduct and leave a note in the box.

This is why I believe dodging should not be punished in certain circumstances. We can remake now, why not vote to dodge? To make things less annoying for enemy team give them queue priority over the 5 that was in your team after that.

That is super bogus. After he picked riven I would've said alright you're not playing support? Just so u know I'm going to report you for that, that's bogus. And then I would've just sucked it up, played support and reported him after the match whether we won or lost. No need to dodge... he sounds confident, who knows, maybe he would've carried. But I understand that dudes a total jackass for doing that lol at least he was honest... for faster queue times lmao what a dick.

This system works in WoW because of vote kick. If you queue of tank or healer when you're not capable, your group will kick you because dungeons require tanks and healers. It also doesn't allow you to queue as tank or healer unless you have that spec active.

League is significantly more abstract than WoW. While optimal teams have the 2-1-1-j setup, it's not like you will automatically lose without a traditional support. If you don't have a tank in a dungeon, your cannot do meta content. Same thing without a healer.

Trying to make this a reportable offense while saying that Riot doesn't push for a meta is trying to have your cake and eat it.

Personally, I think blind pick should just be a clusterfuck, even more so than now. If you want to have any semblance of strategy in picks and positions, go draft.

Screen shot and send a ticket. Dodge the game or play it out and report at the end.

Riot won't implement a system to punish players before a game, because everyone will just cry about how others can abuse it and etc.
