Getting flamed for picking Champs with "Support" stated in champ description

Hi, i recently play uncommon supports in normals and while i can understand getting some comments about singed support, i don't understand why i get flamed for picking Talyah support. Her second role is "Support" as you can read in the game client.

I got insulted for playing her and learning how to play her in normals. i flamed from 2 premades and my adc that i suck. Btw i got the same KDR as Sion, who flamed me while he had a whole lane to farm alone the whole match.

I don't know how to deal with these people, it makes my blood boil, my bloodpressure rises to over 9000 and i would love to slice and dice the player. Even when i tell them that it is a Support as stated by Riot, they tell me... "yes it is but only a mid support" WTF? or something like "i don't care what riot writes"

It gets me into discussions all the time but i really don't want to "mute all" because sometimes there are ok people in the matches. They trigger me so hard, if they would sit next to me i would literally keyboardslap.gif them

how can i overcome this urge? pls help

Not every champion who has support as their secondary role is designed to be in the support role and conversely some champions who don't have support primary or secondary do quite well in the support role.

The effectiveness of a support really depends on their ability to perform their role (damage, cc, tankiness) while having minimal gold income and typically being a lower level than everyone else.

Some people aren't open minded to off meta supports. If that's the case then it's their loss. If I get support I usually ask people if they mind me playing an off meta support. If they do say that they mind then I play something more meta. However, most of the time if you ask before hand most people say they don't mind at all.

I understand that your mentality is "I should be able to play what I want." However, you should also see from their point of view that they don't want to be forced into a team comp that they are unfamiliar with. By extending the olive branch and asking if they are ok with an off meta support you deescalate the situation. It's like offering to let someone go first if there is a dispute over who was in line first. The most common response if you do this is the person will say "no you go ahead." If you show courtesy and respect then they are much more likely to do the same. By saying "do you mind if I go an off meta support" you pretty much guaranteed that they'll say ok just because you were polite about it. It's kind of a jedi mind trick. On the other hand if you tell them "I'm going an off meta support and I don't care what you say" then you're much more likely to face resistance from your team just like if you told the person in line to "get the hell out of my way asshole."

Ashe is labeled as a secondary support but that doesn't mean she is, it just means she can help out her team with her stun slow and vision, taliyah only has a knock back and a slow and she's very weak atm, but they're not really supports...if i'm playing adc i don't wanna have a Syndra support just because it's her secondary role, it's ok to have fun with it now and then but don't main those kinds of supports

Ashe is a 2ndary support, I play her as support too!

Some people write me off as troll and bot lane sometimes end up dying a few times, and of course they blame me for it.

Then team fight phase comes, and my team sees what my vayne is doing. They then sudden apologized to me and said "I take back what I said about our ashe, It's our vayne. Sorry ashe you had to go through that."

Keep in mind people will always flame for off meta, and they'll always blame you if anything goes wrong. You'd just have to try your damest to be good and prove them wrong.

I think you need to overcome the urge not to mute people. Seriously, for your own health. It's not a bad thing. I mute tons of people and we all have better games because of it.

Personally, I play off meta supports to bait people into flaming me so I can report them and get them banned. People who act like that deserve the justice that comes for them.

Yeah, you gotta understand that "support" especially when in the secondary role (stop reading those) means "utility", even teemo has "marksman" as his primary role, and you don't go teemo adc, you don't pick teemo at all, you just don't fam.
