Is it just me?

Is it just me or does the toxicity seem to be worse this season than it has ever been? I have been playing semi regularly for about 3 seasons now and while toxicity has always been there, this season I run in to it almost every single game, even in ones where my team is winning by a landslide.

If so, then what do you think changed that has made the community so toxic so often then? Lack of harsher punishment maybe? Thoughts?

There's not really a single season where it hasn't gotten worse. That's the nature of competitive games as players become more experienced and the ratio of new players to old one becomes smaller and smaller.

It may or may not be just you. Frankly, it's impossible to tell. If you go into every game with the expectation that it will be toxic, you are likely to see things that bother you. If you go into the game expecting a relatively pleasant experience, you'll likely overlook small examples of negativity.

A player's experience sometimes is more important than factual information. In Hearthstone, quest rogue had a sub-50% winrate, but was so awful to play against that it got nerfed anyway. In League, a fair number of champions will get changed even if they have a "balanced" 50% winrate.

What I'm trying to say is that your complaints are valid and worth discussing, regardless of whether or not they are factually supported in data.
