is friendly chatter healthy? cowards have the main stage, and did scenery maps have a special power?

I watched some videos from previous seasons and, to me it seems like we talked to each other a bit back then .. like, post game chat was more friendly and that sort of thing.

I'm just wondering ... are we letting an eerie silence settle in in our favourite e-sport?

Now that LoL has attracted many egotistical people, and so many games dissolve into a battle of egotism, it's getting to be that many people play a game of "who can stab somebody and then escape retribution" in post-game chat, ie they make one last snide, cruel-spirited comment and then quickly leave the room before anybody can retaliate.

So, that is plain as day to me how cowards behave, and that's fine. I don't really care that much about their behaviour since, I can't change it.

But .. well, did the rest of us - the players who do strive for some decent thoughts of respect and such .. did we let it get out of hand now because we are so silent and we don't say anything or attempt to wake up the spirit of friendly chatter based on common grounds? like, by living the motto "If it doesn't involve me directly, it's not my problem"?

Yeah, it can be easier to stay silent and tell ourselves, it's not our problem. But I think we need every friendly player to talk, because that way the cowardly egotists won't dominate the stage and make it look, on the surface, like all of LoL is sneaks and back-stabbing.

If you're a friendly player, please don't stay silent. We need to hear your words, so there's some counter-balance to all the face-stabbing and back-biting.

And hey you guys at Riot, I hope you'll see this. I think that your seasonal skins actually had a pretty awesome power, that is greater than the obvious. I think it gave us something once a year to look forward to, a fresh scenery to remark at ... I think that actually helped to keep us all in relative harmony before.

I know you are a huge company now - world-wide even. But, can you possibly maintain a department for some of those kinds of creations?

... I think LoL needs its own "santa's workshop" where nice but technically "useless" things are made ... Something to give us a little bit of a joy just because joy is valuable.

... go ahead and trample on my dream now, if you're going to.

I might be in a minority these days, but about the worst thing I will ever say is something along the lines of "can we please fight the enemy team and not each other?" But then again, I will also be the first to credit my opponents for making a nice play or, if they win, for playing better than us in that game. In respecting my opponents, I've found no reason to be toxic towards anyone. Sometimes you just don't win.

As a Support main, I get flamed pretty often for just about everything. It's the nature of the punching bag role. But I never recoil and rarely tilt, because I know better. The Three Rules of Life always apply.

  1. You learn more from a hard experience than an easy one. Most people want "easy peasy", thinking it exists in nature. It doesn't.
  2. I am responsible for me. Simply put, I know that no matter what anyone else does, I will still be held accountable for what I do.
  3. It is possible to make no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

However, given the rash of "Participation Trophy" children who expect all the rewards with little effort, it's not surprising that many become little shit heads when they do not or can not win.
