I. Hate. Quitters.

(I was told to move this here.)

I hate people who surrender.

Now, before anyone goes off on a tangent about a toxic mindset, this is not a post about disliking and insulting people.

That being said, I am sick and tired of being teamed up with players who wait for the twenty minute mark just to surrender. The team has lost all their outer turrets. The surrender vote goes up. The team gets Triple Killed. Surrender vote goes up. Lose an inner turret. Surrender vote goes up again. Someone blinks. Surrender vote.

I'm sick of it.

Why did you queue up if all you were going to do was surrender? If you're so keen on giving up, why don't you just leave? Ooooh. You cannot leave. The game will punish you for that. But it is perfectly acceptable to tell the rest of the team you do not want to continue because you cannot finish what you started. And nothing stops that same person from initiating another surrender vote after a cool down. I ought to start adding people who surrender to my blocked list. I doubt it works that way though.

If you are going to surrender, do not play. Go home and crawl under your bed. The rest of us want to finish the game.

Before this was deleted and I was told to move it here, someone told me that if I was always being surrendered on, I should look at what I'm contributing and see if I am the problem.

First off, I refuse to surrender. If it were a 5 versus 1 game, you'd have to destroy my Nexus. I won't stop. I will not even vote on surrendering because I do not see it as an option. I've been through WoW BG's where my entire ten man team has sat at the starter and let the other side win. I never did that. I may have been slaughtered outside the fence, but I kept going.

If SKT had surrendered in any of their tournament games, they would have been booed off the stage. So, don't think it's because I'm not contributing that's forcing the surrender vote. I won't even type in the command to initiate it.

It is a vote for a reason. So that as a team you can decide if you want to continue. The surrender system even leans to your side be requiring a super majority to pass.

There are certainly people that I think give up too easily and there are also people I think are being silly by refusing to surrender. But when to surrender is completely subjective and there are a plethora of factors that go into wanting to surrender.

Because people like winning and don't like losing. So when a team is losing people with this mindset are not having fun and just want to end the game and move to the next where they might stomp the opposition and have fun. It doesn't matter that sticking it out would increase their overall win rate because of the possibility of turning it around, what is important is that they are not having fun at the present moment.

The solution for me is to try and have fun even when you are losing horribly and victory seems gone forever, make it a personal mission to take out that guy who hasn't died yet or making life a living hell for that 12/1 Vayne on the enemy team. I remember a game where my team was being destroyed by an enemy Akali so a friend and I just did everything in our power to seek her out and kill her at all times. Vision wards, sweepers, stuns, everything we could to keep her respawning constantly. I don't remember if we wont that game, I think we did but idk, but I certainly remember Akali's confidence turning to desperation as the Annie/Taric death squad took her out over and over gain. Good times.

Block list only blocks chat, it doesn't stop them from teaming up with you again. Which is very sad for me, because I have at least a hundred players on my block list who I don't want to play with ever again.

And yeah,i agree with what you said. Another type of surrender which makes me angry is when the guy who starts surrender is the only one doing bad in the team. Like you already made this game harder for us, and now you want to put all our efforts in vain just because you are not having a lot of kills? If I am feeding, I will never have enough courage to start a surrender vote

Bruh, im not wasting my life on 30+ more minutes of watching my team fall down. it's people like you that make the most of us hate playing games where we're losing and we can't leave the game.

Fowus11/21/2015, 6:05:11 PM2 votes

do you ever think that some people don't wanna play an already lost game

Makior7211/28/2015, 12:05:06 AM1 votes

This will happen less when you hit lvl 30. I am convinced that most people who are not level 30 are smurf accounts and just want to level as fast as possible hence surrender@20 for stupid stuff instead of fighting it out.

More evidence.

At the ten minute mark, a player in a game today whines that he has zero kills and wants to "ff at 20." Sure enough, he does.

I tell the guy if he wants to quit so badly, he can leave. But he complains that he doesn't want the leaver buster. "But you want to damn the rest of us with a loss because you want to quit." He doesn't have much of a response to that. At the 19 minute mark, this same player gets upset when I get the killing blow on an enemy we are both attacking. "KS!" he bellows. "I thought you wanted to quit. Why do you care about scores?" "I'm still trying," he says. "You're not trying. You're quitting," I tell him. Sure enough, at the twenty minute mark, this same player flags a surrender. But since I won't vote, it fails. At the twenty five minute mark, the same person flags for surrender again. I refuse to vote and it fails again. At this point, the rest of the team hides in the jungle, refuses to fight, and our base is quickly toppled.

I suppose someone will defend them with "they're not having fun so they want to leave" or some other kind of support. Ten minutes in and the game is over for at least one person. Does that show you what kind of mindset I keep coming up against when playing this game?

I agree with most of your mindset, but you're a bit too arrogant, talking about, "You're not professional material," and bullcrap like that. Although I hate quitters, I don't hate them because they're "unprofessional." First and foremost, it's just a game, and you aren't being any more "professional" by refusing to surrender. I refuse to surrender because, as you pointed out, it's good practice to play under pressure. And I hate quitters because they are very narrow-minded and they jump to conclusions too fast. Don't think you're hot sh*t and professional for wanting to play a game.

Blocking people doesn't stop them from being qued up with you. Just a FYI

Bídoof11/21/2016, 8:30:34 PM1 votes

A 3-2 vote should be a surrender if there is a significant gold disadvantage

LostSoul66611/20/2015, 6:30:49 PM1 votes

in the meta the way it is now....i think the surrender option should be avalible sooner. Matches are decided the moment a team gets ahead.

"Never tell me the odds." -Solo, ESB.

We'll never know if we could have turned it around, will we?

LordGeovanni11/21/2015, 6:03:29 PM1 votes

its so annoying for about a whole year comming this december will make where constant surrenders in 85-90% of my games started. its horrible and even worse in ranked and needs to be removed all together if you aren't dedicated to the game you shouldn't be on ranked

So angry...

Samus7211/27/2015, 11:38:51 PM1 votes

More examples.

Today, no turrets destroyed, twenty minutes in, my side surrenders four to zero. In after game chat, the other team asks why we surrendered. "We had two AFK." Yes, I, too, wanted to know why the surrender was made. There was no damn good reason for it.

Second, just a few minutes ago. The sides were mostly even with the exception of one player who died seven times before the ten minute mark. The enemy team was no where near dominating nor had they even gotten past our inner turrets. My team surrenders. No friggin idea why. I called them a bunch of cowards at the end only to have the person who started the surrender vote say "Eff yeah!"

Defend that.
