why cant we leave ?

there is a big problem with league of legends. it is a loooong game and no one knows what kind of game they are going to get into when they join. and for some reason it is against the rules to leave.

i play because a lot of times i have a great time and its a fun experience. but there are other times when it is a completely miserable experience and i just want out. does anyone really think its a good idea for players to have no choice but to suffer through a horrible experience for 45 mins or more in a video game?

that creates toxicity. do you know what me and other players like me do in that situation? we will do **whatever it takes **to escape the torture. we try to make the game end as soon as possible. we throw fights. we feed. we try to make the other players on our team have a bad time so they will agree to a surrender. and that spreads the toxicity further.

toxicity is contagious and the source of this is game rules that cause people to be held hostage when they are not having fun. and it spreads everywhere.

replacement players are the solution. riot could easily make it cost 150 IP to leave. and then whoever signs up to be a replacement player gets that IP if they finish the game. then lots of people would want to be replacements. why isnt this a thing?

Because that's not realistic in a game like League. Take Overwatch for example, in that game, there are no customization between your Tracer and mine. Whereas in League there is a Rune and Mastery system, making the way that you play Mord and the way that I play Mord completely different. That makes the replacement idea, just not really realistic. You also have to consider the amount of gold, the item build, the wave management really makes the replacement idea not work.

If we're talking about Ranked, why would it make sense for me, as a solo queue player, to get into a game where I get an extra 150 ip (I own all the champs and have 10 rune pages so I really don't give a shit about IP) and not be able to gain anything, but instead enter a game where I didn't get to chose my champ, my runes/masteries, my build, my lane, anything and be thrown into an environment where people are already on the edge because of some asshole.

I actually take issue with your attitude to getting matched with a toxic player. Particularly this quote:

we will do whatever it takes to escape the torture. we try to make the game end as soon as possible. we throw fights. we feed. we try to make the other players on our team have a bad time so they will agree to a surrender. and that spreads the toxicity further.

What gives you the right to just throw a game because someone was toxic to you? Grow up, mute the toxic player, and report them after the game. When you do something like that, you are literally no better than the person who was toxic in that game. Sure that one person may be toxic, but you are just making it just making the entire situation worse.

this game is the same as a strategy game. it takes about an hour to play and probably longer if you're queuing up for mid. if you cant sit here for an hour and play for an hour then you dont have time to play the game. if you're lying to yourself saying "meh 30 minutes should be good enough for me to carry a game" you dont have time and should not queue and should probably see a therapist or a counselor about your league addiction, commitment issues, and failure to make rational decisions. this game isnt call of duty. you cant just pick up and drop off whenever you want because it permanently hurts everyone. yes, other games can do that and they usually do to keep the short games going strong, but league is different. it's a micromanagement progression based game of skill and tactics. there's really nothing hard about buying an item, sitting in lane to last hit, upgrading skills, and controlling your champion. NONE of that is hard. WHAT is hard is choosing when and where to do those things because your timer never stops and the moment you miss out on something you're behind forever until your opponent misses out on something. games like call of duty where you literally are always on the same footing as your opponents it doesnt matter if you leave and someone else joins because the game is going to be over in 15 minutes tops and when that new player joins they're not going to be behind. in a game like command and conquer where you literally have to be doing something every second to stay ahead of your opponent the moment one of your teammates leaves you're almost guaranteed a loss and even if another player could join and load up the constantly changing pace of the game they'd just be so far behind that it just be a horrible experience for them for no reason.

the real problem is that some people do not want to give up for any reason because they know that there are players like you who cant sit through an entire game. there are players who get disconnected and cost their entire team a victory. players who just get sick of being called a feeder/troll etc. and they afk.

it could be 45 minutes into a game and if the enemies start complaining at each other about whether to get baron, elder dragon, or to just push the inhibitors to the point where they're calling each other names and pointing at each others scores someone might get mad enough to just throw the game. i see it all the time. then you have the teams that refuse to win just because they like harassing the enemy team and gloating that cost them their own victory. that happened to me about 8 games ago. i was playing a new champ and had over 25 deaths, but the game was 1 hour and 20 minutes long. by that time the minions were just destroying everything and we won from simply not dying first.

do you play monopoly? the board game? ever been playing and had someone go bankrupt and just toss the board up into everyone's faces? or to make trades that in no way benefit them just so they can leave? it ruins the game for everyone.

on a side note call of duty even prevents other players from joining if it's a ranked league match. and they punish you for leaving. there are literally no games that allow new players to join in a ranked setting.

You realize that you leaving a game creates the toxic environment, right? If you want to leave, and the other 4 people on your team think you can win, but you AFK, then you are the toxic one. They think they can win and will try to win, but now you've made it a 4v5 and made it impossible. Like, Jesus, I read your post and you are very clearly an extremely toxic person if you do those things to make games end against your team's will. Feeding, throwing, and flaming are the greatest examples of toxicity, not the results of it. You aren't being held hostage by your teammates, you knew full well when you queued up that it is a distinct possibility of taking an hour or so, and you will only win about half of games you queue up for, in the long run.

I just cant see how this would help solve the problem. Leaving is a punishment because the moment you hit that Play button you are making a commitment that you will play the game. you break that when you leave for whatever reason. With that said this is why we have leavebuster. If you leave once in awhile its ok because Riot knows people have real life to worry about. But if you are constantly leaving that is when it becomes a problem. With that said this replacement thing i just cannot see it working, especially in rank! We all have to deal with trolls, but this isnt going to stop them. If anything this will just let them get away with it especially when they can just leave and troll again!

You also understand that there is a penalty for leaving the game, that games can be very long, and that you can end up with bad teammates getting smashed, all before you get into the game. its not a game made for little kids with short attention spans. its made for competitive teens to adults who would be willing to invest the time in the game. There always has to be a loser. If you could leave just because ur mad or losing then nobody would ever win a game because nobody would stay.

So let me get this straight, you would rather lose the 150 to leave, rather than stay and only lose 20-30? WHY?

People coming and going throws off the game, and you can't have people just come in, for they will be under level. Also people should know that not every game is going to be a cakewalk, so don't expect them to put on the bumpers.
