Mute instead of ban would be nice

Hey, simple2 over here !

So, I thought that muting someone from chatting would be really better instead of getting the #BAN. In my opinion this mute might be a good idea, flamers will just not be able to flame! The #BAN is not really nice, I think that an in-game mute would be way better. Another good idea is to limit a flamers' ability to use the chat. They could get an option of messages like: ss/going X lane/baron/gg wp etc.

There are 4 tiers of punishment, which unless the behavior is extreme, it goes through each in order one at a time for recurring punishments;

10 game chat restriction
25 game chat restriction
14 day account ban
Permanent account ban

Riot does try "muting" flamers. The thing is, if those players continue their behavior the punishment increases. Riot used to do infinitely stacking chat restrictions, but many players continued to use their limited chat to flame still. Since Riot is against completely removing chat privileges, the only option for those people is to move to a ban eventually.

Toxic players will always find other ways to ruin the experience of others. If they can't type their frustration, they'll troll or feed instead as a release. If you're toxic, we don't want you here.

And what makes you think that a person wont be an ass through other means once they get chat restricted?

Riot already tried indefinite chat restrictions. People would just show poor behavior in other ways.

If you want to mute yourself, there are options out there to unbind your chat key.

Back when I started in late S1 early S2, people would stack up thousands of games of chat restrictions. All they did was built troll and fed. So no, I don't think a permamute is a good idea.
