My opinion on the current system
Hello everybody, I am playing league since 2012, it's been almost 8 years since I first got into the Summoner's Rift. My main account was permanently banned 1+ year ago due to "toxicity" as the system automatically detected. As a backstory, I was around diamond 2 at that time I guess, and I was grinding, having 3+KDA and carrying games, having mostly wins, as mid lane. So we are having a good time playing league, and at some point there is a person in your team that intentionally steals a buff away from you that he doesn't need, intentionally follows you and steals your farm, intentionally uses abilities to disrupt your gameplay and is intentionally making fun of you, what do you do in that situation? As most people that put a lot of effort and time into improving in this game, you would definitely not like the feeling of someone ruining your experience, and since you are powerless in that situation, your only relief is to flame that person, which by the way, it is strongly against the rules of the current system, so you get automatically flagged and punished. As a matter of fact, I've never said anything personal to the ones I flamed, it was always strictly tied to their gameplay, nothing like "get cancer and die", "kys" things that I see people are still using because it is wrong, very wrong.
The reason I am making this thread is that the frequency of this griefing behaviour has increased dramatically in the past year since I got my main account banned, why do you think? Because this kind of behaviour is not detectable and therefore not punishable, people are free to have this behaviour as long as they don't use the chat, people that flame them are the ones punished.
In the past two days, I have dropped from D1 to D4 with half of the loses due to people griefing, intentionally doing stuff just to lose the game, because they didn't like something either with the picks, bans, not getting their role, being pinged, and much more. It is just getting out of hand, and you need to take this issue more seriously because at the moment you just rely on an automated system that takes everything out of context, which is fundamentally wrong. You do not remove any toxic player by banning their accounts permanently, they WILL come back, regardless of you allowing it or not, all that you lose is the money they would have spent on the game, I can assure you that I did not spend a single cent on your game after the ban, I just didn't care about any cosmetics at all, because it is pointless as long as there is still a possibility of losing that account too. You do not make any difference by doing this, not at all! They DO come back, and when they do, they have LESS to lose, therefore they flame even more often, and the community is getting more and more obnoxious.
Every other game punishes behaviour like this, I take one simple example: World of Warcraft. If a person is intentionally and constantly doing something that ruins my game experience, they are getting banned, simple as that. In League, we have no way of actually reporting true toxic people, the ones that are the reason people rage and get tilted, we just don't get any other alternative solution. At least give us the option to disable completely the chat, give us the option to willingly restrict our own chat, give us the option of clipping key parts of a griefer's actions and be judged by the public, bring a better version of the tribunal back, don't give any reward for doing it, I am sure there are other people like me that would willingly do the job for nothing in return. Do some sort of forum where people can post threads reporting others with actual proof, and let the others decide if it is against the rules or not, just... give us options! The end game screen is not an option!
TL;DR: The current system is highly inefficient and Riot needs to take this aspect more seriously. The reality is different from their expectations.
