You're never going to get rid of the toxic players, RIOT

Dear Riot,

Your game is turning into a community filled with soft hearted pussies. All I see is people complaining about the amount of toxic players in the game. This is a competitive game. You will never get rid of the toxic players or the shit talkers. It's just plain and simple. That is the nature of competitive players in every game. It might not be every one, but we all know we have a little shit talking in us.

Lets look at the banning system. ANYTHING that is negative in your eyes is a banable offense. You claim it is ruining the experience of the game for the ones on their team and the other team as well. Might I remind you again that this is competitive gaming, you will see this in EVERY competitive game you log onto. What you're doing by banning these people is not making your game better, but decreasing the amount of people that play your game. From what I have been hearing and seeing, the amount of people playing this game is decreasing.

I would also like to remind you that you have a language filter that allows people to "*" out the curse words that are used by enraged players. Banning someone for using curse words is completely pointless if you have a filter. Also, you have a MUTE BUTTON where you can MUTE someone when you don't want to see what they are saying. So when someone complains about people being toxic in chat and verbally abusing them or other teammates you should be asking them "why didn't you just mute them?" AND SEND THEM ON THEIR WAY. The button is there for a reason, use it. If you don't like the competitive atmosphere then you shouldn't be playing these games. Simple as that.

Lets look at CSGO really quick. I have never seen someone get banned from shit talking/verbally abusing someone in chat or on the mic. Now I am someone that likes to shit talk the other team and sometimes verbally abuse the players that are really bad at the game. I have never been banned from the game in amount of time I have started playing the game up until this very second. CSGO even has the same amount of toxic players as League of Legends. The only difference between the toxic players in both games is that YOU, RIOT, ban them. What you should be doing is telling these pussies that come crying to you is "Man the fuck up. Mute them, use the filters, or get the fuck off the game. This is competitive play."

Now I'll move onto griefers/trolls/afks. These people would be people that don't play the game, just sit around doing nothing, mess with your lane intentionally, intentionally feed kills, and things like that to make us lose the game. THESE are the people that should be punished. These are the people that don't care about the game and just want to make people lose. You can ban these people since they are the ones that are actually ruining the experience for both their team and the other team.

Does anyone agree for R!OT to tell these pussy players to MAN UP?

They never once said they were trying to get rid of it. They just want it down, no one can completely get rid of it. Name one game, or anything on this planet that is prefect? You cant because it doesn't exist. But you can calm it down and at least have a positive community, which is what they are trying to do. Everyone doesn't want to play with the chat filled with racial slurs, or any other degrading language. that's not a normal environment to play a game in. Also just because we have things like a filter, and mute doesn't excuse your toxic behavior. I like how someone else put it in another topic. Muting is to stop current game toxicity, while reports are to help bring down toxicity for future matches. I cant remember it word for word, but that's basically how i see it.

Also its not that fact that people are offended, or cant take simple words. I just don't like it when I'm playing and enjoying a game. just like in real life. I dislike racial slurs being hurdle around in every other sentence, it just shows how little of intelligence someone has if their vocabulary is so little they need to use words like that, but again that is just me. If you are fine with it by all means use it, and dont report others who use it. But dont be surprised when you get ban since they rules are in place. You dont have to like it, just follow them. Just like in real life we have rules, you break them and you have consequences.

I'd rather those who think that berating teammates or opponents is 'part of it being a competitive game' and that 'because it's not punished in x game means it shouldn't be punished in y game, either' actually become mature enough to realize the flaws in their thinking.

How is Riot going to get rid of toxic players? One at a time.

{quoted}

sometimes verbally abuse the players that are really bad at the game.

Say this outloud. Say 'I like to abuse players that are really bad at the game.' 'Abusing players who are bad makes me happy.'

Say it out loud to the open air, and then realize how horribly sad that makes your life.

I'm sure this will just go in one ear and out the other, but the mute button is NOT a license to be an asshole to your teammates. If someone needs to mute you in the first place, then there is already a problem.

Cursing and bitching people out is not a sign of maturity. Grow up, or shut up. Pick one.

What kind of ban are you currently on?

Not gonna read this whole thing, just gonna leave this here: They would lose more people from the amount of toxicity that there would be with no moderation than there are people getting perma banned. If I was berated by my team every game, I would not be encouraged to try harder and win. Riot never said talking trash was bad. They did say that talking shit was unacceptable though. Get what I'm saying? You can trash talk, but once you start telling people to kill themselves that crosses a line.

If you're abusing players you should get banned. It's that simple.

The point isn't to get RID of them... The point is to CHANGE their behavior.

Ever since I've seen an uptick in all the little children crying about wanting their account back, I've noticed less (not complete absence, but less is still progress) toxicity. Some people will get the message that certain negative behavior is unwelcome and change. I don't mind ribbing and competitive shit talk, but when people cross over the line into abusive and downright toxic, where they begin to distract the team, I want those people gone.

I've played for a couple of years and I've noticed toxic players never magically make the team better, they just make it less likely that we can come back and pull out a win.

And since League of Legends is a private service, the obnoxiously loud minority will have no bearing on the direction of the game. You won't get your way, your breed will die out.

If Riot wanted to curb the toxic they would give IP bans.

If Riot wanted to make money they would encourage people to make new accounts.

We can pretend criminals don't exist by not listening to the news. That doesn't fix the problem. Locking up said criminals in jail does.

There is a mute option for the reasons of a TEMPORARY fix until a more permanent one arrives - the chat restriction/ban. People mute because they don't and shouldn't have to deal with crap from other people. This does not mean they should just mute instead of there being punishments.

Muting doesn't fix the problem, the chat restriction/ban does. People can be like "If you don't like what I say, just mute me." But why should people have to do that in the first place? The other person could just not be a dick in the first place.

You don't like the rules? Not my problem
