Just jumped from a 25 chat restriction to a 15 day ban over this

I dont see any point in playing after my ban is up. All it would take is a few salty players to report me, and my account would be banned for good.

Really really put off by how little riot considers their player base. To just implement something like the Instant Feedback system that obviously cant do the important task of handling reports.

Thanks for writing in and I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. We have been seeing a higher than usual amount of tickets these last few days.

Checking your account it looks like you had already gotten sets of chat restrictions in the past. As a result of continued negativity it has now resulted in this suspension. With our Instant Feedback system accounts will generally be issued punishments on an escalating path which looks like this:

10 chat restrictions->25 chat restrictions->2 week suspension->Permaban

Any negative behavior that would result in a penalty (even chat restrictions) will bump an account up the next step. I totally get that games can get frustrating at times but that never excuses responding to that negativity with more negativity. Berating others when things go wrong just makes things worst for everyone. Remember, you are responsible for your own behavior only and it doesn't matter who "started it."

I don’t want to see you lose your account and in the future I highly suggest using chat only for when it will contribute to the success of your team. If you don’t have anything positive to say it just might be best to say nothing at all. In my games I always prefer to instantly mute those players that are being negative as it isn’t worth giving them the attention they want.

I thought muting players gets you reported for lack of communication, then i found out apparently those reports dont go anywhere. SO WHY IS IT AN OPTION?

why dont they refined the report categories to things that are actually report able offences, that way there man might actually be enough man power to go through the reports.

If they are lacking the man power to get through the reports properly, put it off, or dont do it. As paying(or not) customers we should be innocent until proven guilty in this system.

Im going to do what ever i can legally to get my refund for all ive spent on this game and close my account for good. With the touchiness of this system, and already being on 3rd level restrictions(that never go down by the way)

That is the normal progression -- no stages were skipped. If there is punishment-worthy content in this log, this is the expected result.

This is all unacceptable behavior, and so this outcome seems reasonable to me.

Really really put off by how little riot considers their player base. To just implement something like the Instant Feedback system that obviously cant do the important task of handling reports.

This is untrue. Good behavior does indeed lower your punishment level, although at the level you're currently at it would take between 3 and 5 months.

How is it unacceptable? I was not racism, homophobic or threatening. Those are just my opinions. When i say things like that i am mostly joking and my teammates know that and give me honor for being fun to play with, then i get reported by a salty player and the system sees it as serious. If stating my opinion(if its not racism homophobic or threatening) is against the rules of league of legends that is just ridiculous. And theres no reason to be part of a community like that.

I played for 6 months since my last suspension with no problems until now.

Yeah, i agreed over 4 years ago when i created my account, and honestly my behavior has gotten better ever since, yet now is the time to ban me from playing the game. Over 3? light insults in 2 games over 6 months?

I dont believe anyone sees that as fair unless they already got offended and started hating me from reading my chat. And if it happened to you, you would feel cheated as well.

Literally all companies say in their TOU that they can stop serving you at anytime for any reason. But they dont, because thats terrible business. And most business's want to keep their customers.

Except riot is different, they have no shortage of customers/potential customers, so once someone like me has already bought enough skins, they just steadily increase the restriction level, never actually reducing it like they say. Until i am banned. WOOHOO server space for player who have not already bought their favorite skins.

Its probably good for money but will look really bad in the long run, ultimately destroying their image, like bad business always does.

Like going to a restaurant and saying: "you are shit" to random guy. That guy would probably never go in that restaurant again. Just because it's your opinion does not make the way it is expressed not toxic. Calling other players trash, children, pathetic, etc. is insulting, disrespectful, and unsportsmanlike, all of which is against the Summoner's Code, which asks you to treat other players with respect and courtesy.

Because it is "insulting, disrespectful, and unsportsmanlike," as I said earlier. No one calls someone those things save as an insult (an exception for child when used factually).

I can not comment on your punishment history or your escalation, as I don't know the situation fully, but even minor toxicity, if persistent and without showing proper reform, can lead to a permanent ban.

Riot's policy is that toxicity is not acceptable, period. Hate speech/threats/etc are worse, certainly, but that doesn't mean other toxicity is not (or should not) be punished.

Well my beliefs matter to me, and what im trying to figure out is if riots beliefs are really so out of line with my own that i should quit playing the game.

I had received previous punishment of the usual increasing kind, the thing is my last restriction was 6 months ago, is that not enough time to go down one level? Seems like a very long time of no problems to stay at that level.

I really did change my behavior after my 2nd chat restriction because i didnt want to get banned.

But it seems even after months of no problems a few minor slip ups can result in more severe bans.

So even if i wait out this 15 day ban and try my best to follow the summoners code, i cant promise there wont be another slip where i tell someone they did something wrong, and they get super offended and screen shot support ticket report me. or the Instant Feedback system takes a joke out of context or something.

Then my account is gone.

Chat bans should be handed out all the time. But Gameplay bans should require Gamebreaking behavior such as intentionally feeding or going afk.

And that's a fair, respectable, and responsible approach to the situation. That said, at the moment it does seem like there is a big disconnect between your beliefs and Riot's with regards to the acceptability of using insults casually, and that may be a major issue for you going forward, as Riot is unlikely to adjust that policy.

6 months is typically enough to drop, provided your behavior is good. My suspicion with this log is that you've been riding the line for a while, and that it finally pushed you over -- or that you simply haven't played much in that time. The usual estimate is 3-5 months.

If you're not making jokes where the "humor" arises from taking insults in the manner in which they were perhaps intended, you will not encounter this issue in the future. Remember that people on the internet may not know how you intend a statement, or may not find casual insulting amusing or enjoyable.

Chat bans should be handed out all the time. But Gameplay bans should require Gamebreaking behavior such as intentionally feeding or going afk.

Riot tried extended chat bans in the past and found them unsatisfactory in terms of how they dealt with toxicity. It's a good idea, certainly, but it's one that was tried precise for that reason, and ended up not really being as good in practice as it was in theory.

You can tell someone they did something wrong. As long as you show some self control and don't be insulting about it, you'll be fine.

Example ( "Ez, maybe you should build AP to balance out the dmg" if the player disagrees then move on.)

Are you trying to argue it's not worth a 14-day ban cos it's not that severe?

There are 4 tiers of punishment:

10 game chat restriction
25 game chat restriction
14-day ban
permaban

Extreme toxicity can make you skip punishment tiers, but unless your punishment level decayed (done by playing alot of games), you will move up the punishment ladder every time you get punished.

Mild toxicity over many many many many many games will eventually get someone permabanned.

The 2 games you were shown are recent examples of unacceptable behavior. It doesn't mean you were solely punished for these two games alone.

I Changed after my second Offense its been 6 months i feel i deserve a level decrease, if those two chat are deem against the summoners code im fine with a chat ban. 6 months between offences seems a bit much.

If those two games are the best examples... thats really not much i used like 2 light insults, once each.

Seems like they are on top of bumping people up, but not moving them back down. it makes sense for business, make server space for new players and all that.

That would depend on how many games you played in those 6 months, as decay happens with games played only and not just time alone.

With an average playtime, it takes 3 months to drop a punishment tier. If you play alot, it'll take less calendar days, if you let it sit on it alone, it won't decay.

First Offense: 10 Game Chat Restriction Second Offense: 25 Game Chat Restriction Third Offense: Two Week Suspension Fourth Offense: Permanent Suspension

However, it is possible to skip to a Two Week or Permanent suspension based on the severity of the behavior in the game. Excessive negative behavior can result in a Two-Week or Permanent suspension at any time without having a chat restriction on the account.

Translation: if you just go on with your negative behavior, you go through all 4 punishment tiers. If you're using hate speech, you skip offense 1 and 2.

Random reports do not get you banned, stop being in denial over your behavior. All reports do is trigger a review - if you come up clean, the report does absolutely nothing.

This isn’t Riot at all. They issue punishments based on what the majority of the community wants. Of me (and all of the others I know) who are both 20+ and spend money on this game, none of us want to see verbal abuse/harassment/flaming in the game. Nobody wants to see that except a very small minority of the population who gets punished for it.
