Is Holding Your Rank Above Someone In-Game Toxic?

I recently played a game as support Teemo, admittedly a bad pick but I did go positive at 6/4. However, not once did we get any help and our junglers reasoning was that we were bad (premade 3's) and that's why we'd never get to the holy place known as platinum like him. Obviously I got curious and checked out his stats (below). Now I wanted to ask, is it considered toxic to gloat your rank above people and act like you're better than them. Some people would look at it as advice like "Don't play teemo support or you'll never get better" but this is in a normals with my friends trying to have fun. He also clearly said "I also have someone spectating that's special, wait for your ban" (referring to Riot themselves?) Despite having a name I'd personally consider against the ToS http://postimg.org/image/z8r72gisf/

Heh. Lots of people like to claim that they're big shots. Very few of them actually are. I wouldn't worry about that. I also agree that his name is right on the verge of being offensive. I would probably report him if he was otherwise toxic. That said, name-and-shame on the boards is uncool. You should probably edit out the name.

As for the "rank bullying", I always tell people that anything can be toxic in the right circumstances. "GL,HF" is a common sportsmanlike way to start a match, but spamming it 150 times is not. In the Tribunal, there were times where I voted to punish based solely on something like "you're a bronzie scrub". I wouldn't say that bringing up rank is always toxic, however.

it can be. If you mention it it isn't but if you area like STFU IM DIAMOND YOU ARE PLAT it is.

I'm diamond so I'm immune to that but people just switch insults and say im boosted when they want to rage at me

I personally am silver, I get stupid people in my games. i have a few friends that are up at the plat level of game play. I see more stupid stuff from plat players than I do at silver, just from spectating my friends games. A lot of people up near that level tend to overestimate themselves. Because of this and the "fact that they are better than everyone else", they are usually the ones who are the most toxic.

That isn't to say I can beat them in any capacity in terms of skill, but you can definitely tell that their judgement lacks because of overconfidence.

Just like any other sport in life that you can imagine, skill is reflected in level of play. If you are a Plat, granted you didn't buy or eloboost you ARE IN FACT better than a silver player, gold player etc. Don't be ignorant. That's the whole purpose of the Rankings, if that wasnt the case you would see Pro Teams scouting Silvers/Golds/Plats because 'they jsut get bad team but are actually really talented and good player" but that's not the case obviously.

I was once a Bronze Silver player for a long time, and once I finally made it to Plat/Diamond, I look bad on myself and I remember how much I actually THOUGHT I knew but in reality I actually knew VERY LITTLE about the game.

LOL you ask that in forums, the number one place where people hold their rank over other people. People tell me shaco can't support. My match history says otherwise. All ranked games even. People are always gonna try to say little slick shit about rank regardless of if they know what rank you are or not. I had a b4 dude tell me stay b5 last game when I picked shaco into our troll team with no adc and 2 jungles. After I amassed 10 or so kills I informed him I was b3. We ended up winning. As far as the other shit. He was just trying to mind fuck you. I've had numerous people tell me "this will be your last game" because they didn't like my pick. Then proceed to try to bluff me into believing them, as if anyone with such power that worked for riot would be in my bronze game flaming me because they don't like who I picked for support. I wait an hour and send them a friend request so they know I'm still playing. Once upon a time teemo was classified as a support. He has a blind and shrooms and seeing as how auto attacks are the most important part of an adc's kit, he's totally viable. Not ideal but viable. Pick teemo sup against a vayne and see how she likes it. Her whole kits is pretty much autos.
