Honor System questions

Since the implementation of the checkpoints into the Honor ranks, so you know about how far you have to go, it feels a little better when you're trying to climb the Honor ranks.

But they mean nothing when you're demoted.

You could be honor 4, done with three checkpoints, and because you had a bad game your team reports you for int'ing or trolling or whatever, and the system actually follows through and demotes you. You're now honor 3. Flat. No progress.

Why?

In ranked, you don't drop from Plat 1 to Gold 5 when you get demoted. Why should we get demoted one to almost two entire ranks if we get screwed by the system or just have a bad time? Wouldn't it make more sense to have smaller and more visible warnings before they drop you a whole honor rank, such as "hey, you had a bad game here, you lost a checkpoint, clean it up, here's a 1 game chat restriction"? And when you drop more checkpoints in X period of time, you get longer and longer chat restrictions and such? Then at least we'd know that reports actually do something, that the system is watching even if you're toxic and Honor 5 anyway because "it's so easy to be honor 5 lul". It would at least promote more consistent good behavior.

I'm just wondering, why have the checkpoints if they're not used beyond as a progress meter when they have more potential?

You're dropped to Honor Level 1 no progress, actually.
