No I don't. Jerks existed long before ranked play came into play. If people want to be jerks then they'll be jerks regardless of what new features and modes come out.
Honestly it's a game that requires teamwork where people never meet face to face and have the bonus of internet anonymity. If that's not a breeding ground for internet trolls then I don't remember USENET right
I play almost only normal games and i see a LOT more toxic player there than in ranked. In ranked people know flaming can make you lose, people don't care about that in normal games.

A competitive atmosphere creates toxicity because there are two different people who play them. League of legends has a winner and a loser in each and every game played.
People #1 is someone who wants to have fun by winning
People #2 is someone who has fun and don't give a shit what other people think.
Number two is who creates the toxicity.
If everyone played a competitive game with the same mindset then you would have very little to no toxicity.
Being that it is a competitive game and was created to be one, People #2 have no leg to stand on and are playing wrong, PERIOD. People #2 can argue all you want but technically you are wrong and always will be wrong.

Some of it is just cause of ranked game play. I talk about how league of legends has evolved over the years and things that are different a lot. I could type paragraphs on paragraphs about what actually happened to this game and the real problem behind most of it.
People in ranked typically get upset because they have public "Rank" and public "Match History" that will follow them for entire account life. That with the "You are bronze" mentality you see around makes people struggle to not be labeled outcast. Before ranked play there was just normal SR. They implemented the visible match history and than people started harassing others about their match history.
As I stated else where there use to be no offenses at one point... no punishment system long ago right out of beta. Than they implemented afker/leaver punishment Those that would get punished because different country.. (one specific) for leaving and lagging out of games non stop (at this time there was no server for other countries) would start to troll/feed/swear/whine/cry everything in the book and make games miserable for normal people. It became almost a meme huehue
As more punishments and rule violations were added the problems got worse... not better.
Riot has looked at the problem all wrong. It isn't a issue of punishment ... it is issue of splitting the player base into groups more suitable to play together.
Well what can you expect when the person (lyte) They hired was straight out of grad school kid. He remember his freshman psychology class about experiments of giving rewards/punishment and ran with it.
Most game designers they have hired are "interns" not paid some cases... without even high school degrees.
The issue with webpage here and in game is they can not solve the problem of database pipeline. Something any system analyst worth is weight in salt could solve.
But considering the old Web Admin/System Admin was hired cause buddy not for his skills and the game designer at time was his wife that looked like and sound like 12 year old child... you couldn't really expect much.
So apparently riot has finally started taking deep look at themselves. It is to little to late....
This game was founded by one of the worse developers ever known to man kind... Few even know that...

Likely not considering worse game in history... but look at the names there.. One might look familiar....
