With zero feedback about how to recover from Dishonorable, I'm at a complete loss

I think the system is broken in that I've done some things I regret and gotten to a Dishonorable state. However, I've been here for months without any feedback whatsoever. Am I making progress toward getting out of Dishonorable? Am I not making progress? Am I just stuck here forever? There isn't any way to judge myself to know whether I'm doing ok or not.

There needs to be some mechanism for players to evaluate their behaviour at less of a gross level than the current honor levels.

Well you came to the right place. You may be stuck there because you're exhibiting low amounts of toxicity. Not enough to be punishable, but enough to flag your chat as negative. A rioter recently made suggestions for being less toxic.

You can also not type anything at all. You will increase in honor with this method as well.

We don't have access to any of your chat logs, so no one on here can help you with that. Try submitting a support ticket. My experience with dishonorable status is limited, but I can tell you that having neutral/positive chat does not really improve your honor fast. You need to play a lot of games probably.
