Why can't we honor opponents anymore?

Hi guys I just came back from an... X month hiatus and... while I saw that it was neat that they further explored the honor initiative, I noticed that we could no longer honor our opponents anymore. Can anyone who has context on this tell me why they took this away?

For me, even though I hate to admit it, find myself wanting to honor people I play against just as much as I may want to honor someone I played with, too. But.. now I can't? If my team doesn't (in my opinion) doesn't necessarily deserves it as much, say, an opponent who is super chill even through a heavy loss, or an opponent who carried the game, then I simply don't honor at all.

But even so, I would like to have a reason to honor in any game, but sometimes when I feel it should go to the other team, I simply just pass on it.

can we have this back?

The old honor system didn't do much, and wasn't very visible. I honored opponents too, but it didn't really seem to do anything, and I never noticed when people honored me.

You still have the ability to manually thank an opponent for a good game, in post game chat. Those manual interactions seem more meaningful to me than getting a leaf from 4 honors where everyone leaves the game right after.

The only times I've ever seen people honor their opponents is when they feed.
