Team fighting or splitting, and gold attitude

Hey, I just wanted to write this just to vent a little bit and try to figure out the situation I was in last night. I was playing normals with a friend (mostly due to the fact that I absolutely hate playing ranked, I'm bronze 4 due to this) and we got into a game. Our team comp was me as jungle gragas, lux support, ezreal adc, pantheon top and this kennen mid. We had this silver 2 mid laner who was gold last season and the season before so I thought this was going to be good. Well it was good but we had top DC but he came back. We were rough in the early game but it started to be good until it got I to around late game. Our kennen was only wanting to split push and he said he would to when team fights start. The only problem is that it takes a while to to so I was asking if he could stay with us so we could actually win team fights since we were always being in 4v5 due to kennen only wanting to splitpush. I kept telling him please just stay with us but he ignores me and starts calling us awful and he keeps getting caught out while pushing, even though the build he has isn't the best for pushing. We lose a 4v5 team fight because the enemy engages on us and I get stunned, not letting me disengage. After most of us are dead, kennen comes in and tries to 1v5 and dies instantly. In the endgame lobby, he starts telling me how God awful I am and saying that I'm so bad because I'm bronze. I was getting aggravated but I never called him bad or anything. I'm tired of being assumed that I am an awful ayer because I don't enjoy the challenge of ranked.

TL,DR: when there is a comp specifically designed with strong team fight, is it ok for the best team fight aspect to ignore the team and leave the team disadvantaged?

  • Kennen is actually really good at split pushing, mostly because of his w and e even without many items. Split pushing isn't the worst idea especially if he's behind.

  • There's nothing wrong with just splitting, I do it all the time on Singed or Nasus. When I play Singed, it's rare that you'll see me at a team fight.

  • If you have 1 member split pushing, it's best just to stall as long as possible. You'll probably lose the team fight, but if your split pusher is doing their job, you should at least trade a tower or even an inhib for 2-3 deaths, and I'd say that's probably worth it. Especially if you take a few of the enemy down too.

  • Kennen going in 1v5 after the fact, that's just dumb, but they were probably tilted at that point, and there's nothing you can really do.

  • If you don't want people to call you bronze, don't play ranked next season. Honestly, if you aren't going to put the effort to climb the ranks, I don't think its worth it. I was stuck in Bronze for years, I really wish I didn't play ranked then. I'm debating if I really want to climb to gold to get that skin, I don't really enjoy ranked either.

  • I wouldn't say your team is the best at team fighting, you have a lot of AOE damage, Kennen ult, Lux ult, Ez ult, panth ult if he can land it. But with the Gragas pick, your ult pushes people away. Personally, I would have rather seen a Rek Sai' pick or a Zac, both are tanky, deal some good damage, and hold the enemy in place, more than displace the enemy like Gragas does. But those are just my thoughts.

more of a gameplay question than behavior question.

personally, I'd say stick with the team due to super AoE comp and grass to peel for adc. But then again, I'm bronze2, what do I know.

You are a brony man

Jungling requires premium decision making. If you are at the point mentally where split pushing freaks you out, then mentally you aren't ready for the jungle role.

Try playing tanky support for awhile if you really do want less BMs.

Well that's shitty that Kennen was being a dick about it... but with his gold potential and your bronze potential, maybe you should have just listened to him? If he's splitting (and he actually had the courtesy to let the team know his plan) then you should go okay he wants to do that, so what do I do? Ask him not to? Or play along since he's probably the best player on the team?

You should have played along and just watched ur minimap to assist his splitting. When he gets up in lane, you wanna get up too, but not close enough for the enemy to fully engage on you. You wanna bait them into staying in your lane while Kennen is in another. If they go towards Kennen, ping him and either take a tower while they go to him, or if there are any stragglers, poke them down while they're on their way... maybe even picking one off completely. Splitting doesn't necessarily mean Kennen is going to get a tower... most of the time it's the other 4 that get the tower while everyone goes after the splitter.
