When the ally you flame saves the game (A Dear Diary post)

Howdy Player Behavior, boy do I have a story for you. Yesterday I was recovering from a phenomenal level of tilt not seen for many a season (7 game loss streak poggers). I was playing my one trick Ekko in a ranked game when I had the pleasure of being paired with a Morgana support. Now the game began as so many of them do in low elo, with a very predictable invade. For this particular invade we had vision and KNEW they were coming, but that did not stop our courageous Morgana from stepping up and saying "No, I would rather die this day than live on as a coward". So it was that Morgana gave first blood and the flame fest begun. For the record I did not bust her balls, it was a definite YIKES moment but nothing that warranted the level of flame she received. Her retort was the typical "Fine I'll afk". Now this did nothing to quiet the team, she did not afk, and it was not surprising that my allies lost their lanes. Luckily I was feeling good, I'd broken my loss streak and I intended to get my LP back. This game would NOT be a loss. I grabbed those disgusting monkies my team mates and~~ threw their morbidly obese asses on my back~~ lifted them unto my shoulders so that we may share in the sweet wine of victory.

Unfortunately Anivia waveclear is capable of single handedly stalling out a game even with Baron so the struggle was VERY real. Worst of all the enemy team identified ME as the primary threat and really put 100% of their focus into murderizing my face. Teamfights became more and more difficult, with an importance for me to delete the enemy Caitlyn through item 3026 Lulu item 3222 item 3190 item 3107. At one point I'd dared to ask the Morgana to stay beside Varus, because she'd gotten caught for the umpteenth time and forced us into an unfavorable 4v5. Her retort was a kindly "Fuck you I'm afk". And she did, for almost 2 minutes. I had to explain to her why I was asking her, ensuring her that I wasn't flaming her (I wasn't) and that I thought she was doing fine (utter BS). Fortunately she returned and I decided to make a baron call. My team obliged, trusting in my judgement and we'd secured baron when the enemy team engaged on us. Caitlyn had sold her GA and I was able to do my duty and dispose of her, however it became a 1 for 1 trade while my other allies were solo'd by the Pantheon. Four of us died that teamfight. Two of theirs had died. They had plenty of push to end out the game, and when I realized we'd lost I was less than happy.

In that moment I was looking for someone to blame, and who would be more deserving but the feeding toxic morgana? As I was typing up a flame fest that would have no doubtedly get me a hefty chat restriction the realization hit me! A team isn't made up of four players, it is made up of five! But then, where could Morgana be? When she saw I had died she'd made the incredibly wise decision of ditching the rest of the team and empowering our supers to take their base. She was, believe it or not, winning us this game. I typed "I cannot fucking believe it", and so it was that the toxic tilted feeding Morgana was the one who threw us on** HER** back and carried US. Now you can argue that had she performed better at the start the game would not have been that hard (JUST PLAY BETTER DUH). You could argue that it was my damage, or Garen's split pushing that won us the game long before the Morgana contributed anything outside of a bind. But I would put it to you that it was the Morgana who in spite of a flaming team, a poor performance, and herself being tilted chose to stick with the game and keep trying for that win. I've been in a lot of games, as I'm sure you have, where somebody flames an ally to the point they either AFK or run it down.

In closing, there really is no benefit in flaming your allies. For better or worse they're a part of your win condition and you should always be trying to win. You never know when flaming an ally may result in a loss. I hope the team mates I played with that game learn to better control their frustration. It's been a day and I am still shocked that it was the Morgana who won us the game.

when ppl flame me even tho i carry the game: 2 outcomes

  1. i mute them, we lose, they ask enemys to report me and blame it on me
  2. i mute them, I ALONE win it, they ask enemys to report me and blame their many deaths on me.

When people flame me, I usually end up playing better. I feel too few people are willing to admit that they may not be trying 100% in every single game and could use some push from time to time.

this looks more like a case of "fk u all i'll just keep pushing 1 lane and 1 lane only" than carefully examining the current situation and making a very intelligent and well calculated decision that resulted in victory. I see tilted fks doing this a lot in ~silver/bronze games. I've done it myself too :D but only here, the things worked out in her favor when ur team killed baron
