Why cant I say gg ez

Alpha God Yiizus·12/19/2017, 4:30:24 PM·3 votes·2,750 views

I dont understand why we can't have competitive smack talk like gg ez or get rekt noob. Or stick to bots noob.

It's fun to talk smack but idk why we have to cater to 12 year olds and butthurt 40 year olds.

Because it's possible to be competitive and trash-talk a bit without insulting the other player as a person or a player.

Something like "Nice ult!" when they whiff a skillshot is a moment-to-moment comment on that particular play, and is trash-talk without trashing them. Calling someone a noob is an insult to them.

GG EZ is just poor sportsmanship.

Allow me to translate what "GG EZ" means according to my Universal Asshole Translator (tm).

beep beep boop beep

"I am having some personal issues I have yet to resolve as my ego is so huge it hinders my ability to work them out. I use a low effort phrase to make myself bigger and compensate for an obvious shortcoming. I am not sorry."

Huh, wonder why it always pulls that up. I'll never know.

Some smack-talk is certainly okay. I managed to win a clean 1v2 at level 3 last night, and gave them the /all "ITS YA BOY". The top-laner claimed lag, to which I replied "Same tbh". I think that works as far as rubbing it in their face a little bit, and letting them tilt. I certainly didn't cross any lines into harassment or flaming in doing so.

"GG EZ" is FAR from the worst thing you can say to somebody, but it's overtly disrespectful. You're straight up telling somebody, at the very end of a game, that they didn't even put up a fight. That's just kicking somebody when they're down.

And honestly, challenge yourself to come up with something more creative than woefully overused cliches like "get rekt noob". That's weak shit.

Big difference between "smack talk" and just being plain rude/mean

HalcyonDweller12/19/2017, 5:30:07 PM7 votes

Because the only reason people ever have for saying "gg ez" is to try to make their opponents feel miserable at the end of the game. It doesn't even give you a competitive advantage because the game is over and tilting them doesn't help anymore.

If you're so miserable that you need to drag other people down with you to feel better about yourself, you should go seek help, not play league.

The kind of fun you're talking about is one sided fun. Riot has found it best to support types of fun that involve everyone.

Yeah, because the 18-24 demographic isn't prime targets for rage problems.

You can say ggez, it's just reportable. So figure out how much it means to you to be classless.

The real question is why do you have to say it? Just to make others feel bad?

WolfChases12/19/2017, 4:42:55 PM5 votes

There is no need for GG EZ at all. Why do you consider it fun? Especially if someone says GG EZ after a 40 minutes match. 40 minutes match isn't easy for either losing or victorious side. In the other hand, if you get stomped at 15 minutes in the game its probably because they are prenading with high elo players or you got matched with someone who is unskiled for that MMR or is inting/trolling which I consider "Not Fair Matchup" and it is EASY for one side but at the same time completely one sided from the very start of the game and is clearly obvious why uou got stomped hard. And even worst thing is when someone says GG EZ in 5v4 matchups. Lol. i always report anyone who says that except in the situation when someone from the losing side says that.

I mean why do people have to say childish things like that for no purpose other than to be a dick?

The Cream Reaper12/19/2017, 4:46:04 PM3 votes

because it's bad sportsmanship?

If I had to guess, it's because that sort of smack talk isn't in good sportsmanship. Football players get penalized for things equal to such BM after they win.

I can kinda understand the reasoning. You've already won, all you're doing is insulting them, rubbing salt into the wound, saying they were easy to beat. Whether it's banworthy or not, you're an unsportsmanlike player for doing so anyways. Playful smack talk would be something like "maybe you can perfect that Varus ult against me when you reach gold" rather than "You were so easy to beat".

I dunno. Maybe it'd be nice if we could type things after the nexus pops. "gg ez" is just so easy to shortcut to when there's so little time to type.

EvilDustMan12/19/2017, 7:04:22 PM3 votes

Because it's annoying. It's not even creative or funny or intelligent. It's just generic douchebaggery.

mosaickle12/19/2017, 4:34:30 PM2 votes

By saying that, you're admitting to ill intentions, which is (very self-explanatorily) discouraged in a competitive teamplay game.

Duchess Katarina12/19/2017, 5:24:11 PM2 votes

I find it really stupid when people say it in normal game, are you really that proud to being winning a normal game?

I for one agree, typing ggez is hilarious
