So I got reported for 3 games and got a 14 day ban. The other 2 games I am willing to admit was my fault, but this game I wish I could pull up the enemy chat, this was completely stupid. The enemy team had a trio Que who was toxic towards there support and then flamed me so I had to argue with them but apparently if 3 people report me I get the punishment. I never understood why riot can't just review this specific game and see I was defending myself.

A) Two games would already be enough.

B) If you want to defend yourself: Mute and report. There's is absolutely no reason to retaliate towards verbal abuse with more verbal abuse. It's like putting an arsonists house on fire, in retaliation to having your own house set on fire. That's not self defence, it's vigilantism, and it gets you punished in real life just as much as in game.

You can run. But this is not equal to someone punching you. This is equal to someone insulting you on the street constantly.

There is never a point where you had to argue with them. The option to ignore them is always on the table.

All the system needs is one report to flag a game. The others do nothing. And, as you said, you had two bad games on your reform card already.

This isn't arguing: this is insulting your team, plain and simple. They may have been insulting you, but that doesn't make this the right course of action, or an excusable one. :(

Kinda looks like you did a couple of times there.

But telling the enemy team "KYS" over and over and trash talking them is certainly reportable and is why you got banned. It should have been a perma, so I agree with your title and premise. I even gave you an upvote because I totally believe you are right, Riot messed up and decided to let you off easy.

You are wholly responsible for everything that is said in game by you. It does not matter if someone else is telling you to fuck off, calling you trash, threatening your family, etc.

You have a mute feature. Type "/mute @(champname)" and you won't see any of their chat. Report them after the game.

You were rightfully punished because you showed a tendency of being negative and toxic throughout (probably more than) three games. The fact that one of them was in retaliation for others' toxicity does nothing but prove that the punishment was justified.

To recap: retaliation is never acceptable, no matter how severe others' chat is. If you are offended by someone else's chat, you are free to (and encouraged to) mute their chat/pings as necessary to ensure you do not have to see it anymore.

So back to my point why aren't they getting punished for being toxic? Is it because they are a Trio Que so the Tribunal takes more reports over less reports? The other player from the enemy team honored me and reported her Trio Que for being toxic. Smh This game is full of babies, you get punished over anything and if you respond to someone you get punished. I am done with this trash community. Good Game bad execution on being competitive.

At least on the Korean Servers you can be toxic without getting banned, NA is full of babies who are offended over everything. Can't even talk smack in a competitive game.

They have different standards in Korean servers, but there are punishments given out all the same.

For instance, "your mother" jokes in Korea are on par with hate speech in our region.

If the OP, you complain about how toxic the other player was, and how bad his chat was. It was so bad that you had to argue with them.

I'm of the opinion that toxic chat should not be in the game.

Your opinion seems to waver between toxic chat being unpleasant and toxic chat being something that should be freely allowed. Could you clarify your position?

My voting record and ideologies are quite consistently on the conservative side of most issues. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be relevant to the conversation at hand.

Well I believe toxic chat and trash talking should be allowed since it's a competitive game. The reason why it sounded like I found toxic chat unpleasant was the fact that I got punished when the enemy trio que was bullying there karma and then talked smack to me. funny thing is I got honored this game but managed to get punished from the trio que reports.

But again, you call the toxic chat "bullying". That word is loaded with unpleasant connotations. I notice that you even felt sorry that the Karma had to endure it. I still can't quite believe that your position is contiguous.

To answer the point that you did bring up this post; I've seen many other competitive environments, all the way from physical fights to championship Go where toxic communication wasn't used. I don't think it's an essential element of competition.

And "from the trio que reports." the IFS checks a game if any report is made. Additional reports do nothing. You were punished because of your chat, not the number of reports.

Why do you assume they behave like this as frequently as you do? Or better yet: Why do you assume they were not punished?

One report or nine, if somebody gets reported in a game, the game gets reviewed looking at whether they exhibited negative behaviour or not. There's no bonus for being in a premade.

How do you know that they are not being punished for being toxic? Number of reports does not matter, one report flags a game for a review.

Sometimes mediocre game logs are added to reform cards. You don't NEED to be highly toxic in three games, necessarily, to be punished. If your other two games were bad, then that's why you were banned.
