How does getting banned for flame work ?

Hi. So right off the bat i'm gonna say im writing for a friend not myself. So basically, he flamed in a game we played, and got a 14 day ban for flame. My question comes in here, I asked him if he was previously banned or anything for flame, and he said that he never was and the last time he got something like this was in Season 5 as he got some chat restrictions, so I was wondering as to why he got a 2 week ban straight off the bat, and not something like a day, 3 days, a week or something less severe like chat restrictions ? I understand that Riot does this to stop flamers, but I mean like, I personally dont think he should've gotten a 2 week straight away. Any information on this?

If he used "hate speech", "racism", or was "excessively toxic", he can be escalated to a two week ban on his first offense.

this is usually considered extreme flaming by RIOT and is punished with instant 14 day ban

they also don't care how the other side behaved when they are looking at you. they will look at them separately if it was reported. everyone is responsible for their own actions/reactions and if you flame back at a flamer you are just as likely to get banned

So even though I did get provoked and there were players that flamed me as well, if I didnt report them, they wouldn't get reviewed? Oh god. Of course I didn't report anyone, I was so excited from winning that otherwise stomp from their side that I didn't even think of reporting that shaco. ahh

it's possible they still got flagged??? but it's better if you report it. even if i win I always report any and all flamers on either team(if it was in all chat)

Well, telling someone to kill themselves is not something that should be promoted. I'd be suprised if they didn't ban you for it.

Hello, I'm the friend that got banned. I wish to explain the whole story. I got provoked in all chat by the enemy Shaco so I responded to him when I killed his top laner. The game was looking to be a stomp from their side, but my team came back amazingly well thanks to me and my friend who posted this. I flamed my team's fizz and told him to "kys" to which he didn't respond but I did get 2 honours which means my team didn't hate me that much. I think my reports come from that enemy shaco and his premade top laner. The guy kept on and on about how good that Wukong top was and how I'd cry 5 mins in. I went 3/0 against that same Wukong and I said in all chat something in the style of who's crying now, to which he said kys and no one cares. Enemy adc kept flaming us and I made it my mission to humiliate the enemy team by winning. I kept spamming ez in all chat when we ended their nexus and I spammed ez when I split top and took their inhib. I really don't think I had deserved this 14 day ban, a 3 day one sure, but not 14.

Regardless of what the situation is, Riot has a zero-tolerance policy for players who incite others to commit acts of self-harm. Even if it was your first offense, zero-tolerance bans are immediately escalated to a 14-day ban. As a note of caution to you, your next ban will be a permaban, so you should avoid any kind of behavior that could get you punished.

Yeah I will try to be a better teammate when this ban expires. But what irks me is that I got reported from the person that I did not flame :/ I have even contacted that fizz that I told him to "kys" and he said that he had not reported me, because we won the game because of me and my friend.

I'm not sure why it matters who reported you, whether the victim or someone else. This is a game of 10 people. You've made someone uncomfortable/offended to the point that s/he took the time to report you. Whether you win the game or not makes no difference in how badly you behaved.

It matters because I was never toxic to the person that reported me. He didn't even see when I flamed my team, especially because I did it in my team's chat, not all chat. The person that reported me was a petty,salty player that couldn't handle losing a game that was so surely a stomp from their side. So he decided to take out his anger on me, the person that carried that game and was responsible for his loss. The player that reported me NEVER got flamed by me, instead he told me to kill myself etc.

and how do you know exactly which player reported you or are you simply guessing? It honestly matters little who reported you for whatever reason. If you were not toxic and didn't deserve the report, it would have been thrown out as false report. But since you were truly toxic.....

I've had people threatened and called for reports on me every week/month. I do not care. There is nothing in most of my games that would caused me to be dinged by the IFS or manual review. I can be reported every single game I play and I bet you I would never see even a single chat restriction, let alone a ban.

They don't do 3 day bans. And saying kys can get you an escalated punishment instead of going through chat restrictions. Try not to say "ez" it's just poor sportsmanship.

I hate how riot doesn't release the full chat logs,would make my point a lot easier. The person that reported me told me to kys in the early game. Why hasn't riot responded to that?

You got punished for the kys and for the hate speech (%%%%). You're only punished for your chat, not anyone else's. That's probably the main reason you're only given your own logs.

Because you and you alone are responsible for your own actions. You've made the game infinitely more unbearable for the other 7 people not involved by engaging the fizz while you could have easily muted the fizz, reported him, and he and he alone will be the only one punished. It doesn't matter what other people did. YOU became part of what made that game much more toxic than it should have been.

Yes. Muting someone just means you cannot see chat from that person. Unless that person mute you, they can still see what you type.

Does anyone think perhaps Riot could reduce my ban to a week? I'll use /mute all from now on with all chat disabled. I am sincerely sorry for flaming those people and I played on my other account and had a simillar situation, BUT in this one I just stayed silent :p (gotta start somewhere right?). If i wrote to their support, do you think they could somehow reduce my sentence? I have only this month to play league and i really wanted to climb some divisions on ranked while i still am free :/

Your friend is openly telling other people to kill themselves, that on its own is already a pretty big offense, and people who blurt out stuff like that generally aren't the nicest people all around.

About the "sudden" 14 days ban, I'd be willing to say your friend is bullshitting you.
