Not allowed to join the NA unban reform because "the experiment is full"

How disappointing.

i really feel they should have made this a private matter instead of going public with it and telling people they will not be selected to join because "we banned too many players and cannot monitor this many players for behavior".

Thanks for the chance to return, but its very disappointing to be told you cannot be unbanned while thousands of players who also got banned will rejoin the ranks.

I hope you all shape up and dont ruin this chance to have ur old account back.

Good luck summoners, mute all and dont intentionally lose.

On the plus side ill never spend another penny on this game, so thats cool.

First of all, let me address the issue of clarity versus privacy.

By all rights, Riot being open about the test is the best possible approach. It gives players clarity as to what the test is, why it's going on, and how it's going down. And it makes sure everyone has the ability to be on the same page, rather than having some people with "insider info" about some "super-secret cool-kids' reform club" or anything like that - that would just lead to confusion and in-fighting and distrust. Which is not something Riot wants.

As for them having a limit on the amount of players they'll allow into the experiment...That's not an issue of "we banned too many players". That's an issue of having a decided sample size/variable for the test. Just like you can't feasibly run a test of how much salt you can dissolve into water by pouring bag after bag after bag of salt into your pot, you can't expect them to get good data if they just keep taking in players for the experiment.

Thanks for the chance to return, but its very disappointing to be told you cannot be unbanned while thousands of players who also got banned will rejoin the ranks.

On the plus side ill never spend another penny on this game, so thats cool.

"Thousands of players" sounds like an overestimation. I would be surprised if they went far into the triple-digits. But, if you want to take your rejection as a personal insult, so be it. You do you.

agree. im so sad bro, like for real i was cheaking my ticket status every 1/2 hours for past 6 days... like i said in the ticket "its like lottery ticket". but i think this experiment was extrimly unfair! why: becouse how i hear about it? some random forum read on reddit and seen that unban experiment. and it was just to those peoples who were lucky anough to send ticket asap. they should have been say about this expiriment on the league client or league forum but why reddit??? and i understand when he said the guy that make this event, that every ticket review manually and not by system. alot of tickets but just becouse its hard to reply to every one doesnt mean close the "event" atleast it was like 1 week but 5 days? looks like player behevior team was complaining for to many tickets.... sorry for engliah. but im so disepointed tbh. good luck to the peoples who get lucky. i almost went to buy some rp for returne of the account but RIP

The Bad News :

Hello Everyone,

Heads up that I am sending this to a number of you at one time due to the high volume of tickets we received based off a recent reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/9356yc/why_are_people_in_na_having_their_permabanned/e3bbx8j/

Before I begin, if you’re receiving this message it’s because we’ve identified your ticket as being related to this issue, if you feel you received this message in error or it does not pertain to your issue please respond to it letting us know and we’re happy to treat the issue separately.

Since our post on reddit we’ve received a lot of enthusiasm to participate in this experiment and it was really encouraging to see. We feel like it’s a great sign that so many of you are interested and excited for a chance to return to League of Legends with a new outlook on the game.

Unfortunately we currently have enough players to perform this experiment and monitor the results for success or failure. I mentioned it in the thread; but we want to be able to explore this project while keeping the risk of a terrible experience low for everyone else who loves League of Legends and is able to play penalty free.

I know that this is likely disappointing for a number of you who are ready to try anew in League of Legends if only you could get the chance. If you’re one of the many who are playing on a different account since your ban and staying out of trouble, even climbing the ranks of Honor to show how much you’ve changed then I have a direct message for you; KEEP IT UP! These actions are not going unnoticed. I can not make any promises that this experiment will result in direct changes to permabans in League of Legends but we are committed to doing what makes the most sense for our players and this effort is an example of us checking our assumptions about what makes good moderation in League of Legends.

My team will be happy to respond to any follow-up questions or concerns you may reply with; but I would like to leave you with a few points that are positions we will not deviate from:

Our current roster for the experiment is full. We will not be able to add any additional accounts; NO exceptions will be made. We will be unable to provide updates on this experiment’s success (or lack of success) or any updates on when we might have another experiment like it or when we might make changes in the future. We do not have any plans to unban or allow players to return to League on perma-banned accounts outside of this experiment. The fact that we’re running this limited experiment should not give hope that we will end up changing our policies at a later date. We are 100% committed to looking at the data we collect from this process in order to do what’s best for League and our players. We are very aware that we might find our current policies are working as intended and permabanned accounts will stay banned forever. You should be prepared for this possibility. I want to thank you again for taking the time to reach out to us about this experiment. I’ve been working with banned LoL players for almost 8 years now here at Riot and one thing that always impresses me are the players able to hold themselves accountable for their actions and overcome the negative thoughts and behaviors that plague us in the heat of competitive gaming. Since the reddit post earlier this week we’ve found it encouraging to see such a powerful drive to be better; especially from a group of players that are all too often written off as lost causes. Even if our permabanned account rules do not end up changing; my hope is that this will not stop any of you from trying to be the best possible version of yourself in League of Legends or any other gaming community you may end up calling home.

The community is so toxic players are down voting players for being disappointed they cannot rejoin the game on their old account.

Sounds like disrespectful words aren't the only thing riot should be looking for to discipline players.

And to you "Umbral Regent" :

Im disappointed that i found out about it but was not able to participate, you can twist my words to make them sound like whatever you want, but its plain as day, im disappointed i will not be given a chance to use my old account that i had until a few months ago, and played on since season 2.

**"if you want to take your rejection as a personal insult, so be it. You do you." **: this is toxic. right here. even if you do not understand it, you are part of the communities toxicity. you take words and twist them around to make them sound like what you want, and attack people for their opinions.

That is literally what people are being banned for. hard to see the forest through the trees, eh?

and yes, im sure easily thousands (4-5 digits) are participating, they need better player stats because their game has dropped greatly in player numbers.

they perma ban you in this game if u flame back, and lots of people have been taught not to be a victim, so they defend their selves.

but sometimes it goes too far, can be hard to tell the difference between self defense and bullying in the heat of the moment.

Im not saying its right, 2 wrongs never make a right, but sometimes u cant allow yourself to be considered weak or people walk all over you, thats just life.
