i just got perma banned for defending myself against homophobic toxic behavior from an enemy rengar

I am not a toxic player, nor do i condone toxic behavior; nonetheless, I was in a normal game and a rengar was saying "%%%" everytime he killed someone and myself. I found it extremely offensive due to the fact that I am gay in real life. I told the rengar he would be reported and literally the whole team apparently was homophobic and i ended up getting perma banned for defending myself against this homophobic behavior.

Apparently , riot supports homophobia by literally throwing me an insta ban 5 min after the game ends??? what should I do? this is my main account, and I have spent so much time and effort in it and I do not feel that they have a right to ban my account for defending myself

edit: Apprently everyone thought the rengar was funny for saying "%%%" after everytime he killed someone , and to me, who is gay, it was extremely offensive.

Nonetheless, apparently everyone thought he was funny and everyone was homophobic and thought it'd be funny to report me.... hence the ban?! I sent riot a ticket, and am awaiting a response.

Should i expect my account to be unbanned after review? I usually NEVER say anything in /all chat

Defending yourself would have involved muting the offender (to spare yourself) and reporting them after the game (to spare others).

Instead, it sounds like you decided to counterattack and add to the toxic environment rather than removing yourself from it.

The correct way to defend yourself in this game is to mute and report. If you sink to their level of toxicity, you are no better than they are. The terms and conditions apply to everyone who plays. If you break them, you get punished. If you break them repeatedly or are in gross violation, then you get permabanned.

Never come to a desert expecting rain, never come to the boards expecting the community to say anything other than you deserved it. But i will offer a couple things you can do.

Right now you have multiple courses of action,

  1. Write a support ticket: https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

      nothing is gonna be done in most cases they don't usually lift any kind of permaban (they are SJW degenerates that don't understand reason)      (the kind that shout racist, sexist, etc at anyone with a view other than their own, in this case their favorite words are toxic and negative) (fyi this is why democrats lost since we think you are all nuts and voted for trump(may the world have mercy upon us))

  2. Buy another account / hand lvl a new account

    this is technically not recommended and can get you banned, but others do it all the time and can save you loads of time on actually getting champs and pages. IF YOU DO THIS DON'T TELL ANYONE!!

  3. (REALLY JUST A OPTION) Dispute all charges you have made on credit cards/paypal, if you aren't actively getting what you paid for you can dispute charges for up to 6 months back in most cases and have seen multiple instances where these claims hold up in court.

  4. (THE BEST FOR LAST) Carry on my wayward son there won't be a Riot when we are done. Learn to play Dota 2 (most of these degenerates can't climb the steep learning curve and is the best natural barrier to them ) Or you can play Hot (heroes of the storm) or smite but I rather dislike these games and wouldn't recommend them since they are entirely different games to a traditional MOBA. Also reply and I will provide an email to contact me if you have trouble climbing the DOTA 2 learning curve (but all heroes are free and just takes a little time)

Best part about this option you can get banned in chat and still play this game. All they do is permaban you from you using chat in-game. Though honestly with the voice chat I usually have much better experiences in Dota 2 than in lol since the community is actually better since it takes time to actually learn the game. IE most of these plebs pick up this game and smash buttons till they feed.

This is why we call those players "toxic". Their attitude infects other people, and makes them toxic as well. The system doesn't (and shouldn't) discriminate between the initiator and the infected. The only proper solution is mute, play, report.

Technically a Toxic substance can't spread (its not a disease), it just denotes that it can harm you. Also isn't it kinda hypocritical to say just mute them when Riot could do the same thing to their account (like Dota 2 does) and mute them permanently until they clearly show signs of being detrimental to actual game-play? Sure he messed up but do you think saying some mean words to someone really warrants not being able to play the game? Yes let us remember what our mothers told us "sticks and stone may break our bones but words will never hurt us". Until they start affecting game play who cares that they have anger management issues , just mute them from all games(like you say to do with other toxic players you encounter)

But then again Riot is so SJW based and has only that perspective of "o he said words I didn't like so he better be punished" Glad they won't ever run this country or they would put everyone in jail that doesn't agree with them(this is why we have free speech so we can have opposing views without fear of persecution or speak my mind as long as I don't impede or harm anyone). So to conclude Sieg Heil to RIOT AND SJWs like them. Go to dota 2 if you wish to be free from the Riot party little angries or else hide in your attics when they come around or face the ban camps(they'll have you lvling an account again and paying them more money).

It's not about toxicty "spreading", it's more about how a tiny bit of toxic substance in a large body of water, can still make that entire water toxic (i.e. only a small amount of players needs to be "toxic" to drastically lower the overall enjoyment of the game). Depending on the exact substance, it can also lead to positive feedback loops turning the water more toxic over time, even though only a small amount was originally added (i.e. the presence of "toxic" players can create more "toxicity" as a reaction to those players).

The rest of the stuff is bullshit that is posted so often, that I'll just give you the quick version: Muting fights the symptoms, not the root of the problem. Literally hitting people with sticks and stones is worse than a lot of things. That doesn't mean those things are not bad. Free speech does not mean what you think it means. (If Riot actually was the government you might have a point). And finally: If you want to leave for Dota 2, why don't you just do that?

Also gj glossing over that, real in depth and really misunderstands that toxic chemicals don't remain toxic in extreme large bodies of water and will eventually become diluted (not my point either but good try, but you should read the entire thing so you don't miss things) Also I do but I kind of act like a Schindler here, what are you doing here? Also why so apprehensive the words you used are very rude and crass not very summoner like btw.

Also if we want to get technical, you have to add more than is being disposed of when it comes to positive feedback loops so unless you are adding a lot of toxins repeatedly you are not gonna make any extreme large body of water actually noticeably more toxic. Also by your argument one bad experience in game can make someone forever toxic and flame for the rest of their games from that point forward. Water doesn't turn into the toxin it is still water mixed with a toxin that you can filter out. So no toxicity doesn't breed more toxicity. water (the player that is okay by your standards) disrupts toxicity and controls its affects on you. (possibly helping the other player in the process better themselves and improve as a person (something riot has never attempted to do despite their "moral code")) If Riot really wanted to help people they would have anger management online seminars that people would have to complete before they can play again, not just pay them $50 or more just to get an account that is basically the same in what it has unlocked.

Beware the Ides of March, Shakespeare, Julius Ceasar. Good name, man. I read it originally as "Beware TheLdes" (lowercase L), and put that into google expecting a comicbook reference. Google noticed immediately what it was and popped up the Shakespeare reference. :D

So "toxic" is misnamed. But the problem with toxic people is that they flame someone, then people start flaming back, which means more than just the original person is typing instead of playing, and damaging everyone's morale. You're right about the meaning of the word in other contexts, but that's what it refers to here.

If i see two people arguing on the street I'm fine with it i just don't listen (ie mute them)( if I feel i can qualm their anger i might even chime in to make both of their days better). Doesn't change how you play usually since you don't have to type if you don't want to. I just think its better to let people speak than to silence them, but maybe I'm just too american. I might not like what you say but I will fight to the death for your right to speak. For one day I may need to speak and no one will be left to help me.

You're right, in the case where people are saying "We should do Baron" "No, that's a bad call. We should dragon" "No, both you guys are wrong, we should push a turret".

In the case of people saying "you suck and we're going to lose because of you so uninstall", we just don't need the negativity; it hurts team morale. That's how I see it, anyway.

And I figured with your name question at the end it was a test to see if the whole thing was read. Very clever. :)

But where do you draw the line? And even the statement above you can mute them after that. Or i would counter them with "I'm sorry you feel that but I'm trying my best to win this." Try that next time someone flames and see what happens and see the reactions. You will be surprised a lot of the time. I would rather have the flamer that is passionate about the game than the troll that wants to make others lose or someone who clearly isn't trying at all.

A lot of the time people are angry they get people that clearly are not caring at all and say o its fine to die repeatedly as long as I have fun. The problem with that is your "fun" hurts others that might be actually trying to win. Also most people in ranked don't realize hey you don't die repeatedly by not playing passive and someone else that is doing good will be able to carry you. That you don't always have to get kills that farm is worth more than kills anyway and that you can get a lot out of playing passive and just farming increases your teams chances of winning a lot. I'm not saying don't try but after about the 3rdh death and no kill you should really not even go near the enemy laner and focus more on team play than on you winning.

Also dota 2 has a limited number of reports system unlike league and act as though the reports are valuable and you shouldn't just waste them. Only 3 reports per week (unless you are found to have reported correctly) and their community is much better for it and I have made many more friends in dota 2 since all that happens if you speak in dota 2 is that you can get muted(means you can no longer use voice or text) but maybe one day league will get wise with bans and voice chat but maybe one day they will also get a working client that doesn't suck.

They can buy accounts super easy and isn't that expensive or even if they take awhile they will be back in the community pretty quick if they purchase champs(this is why riot bans accounts $$$)

I still don't get how the community accepts it but I guess sheep are easy to slaughter. But then again this is why I don't play that often anymore and prefer dota 2 (not on this account since this one has basically nothing unlocked.)

I'll just address this bit... how would you propose keeping them out in a game with free accounts? How do we identify the banned player upon return? I'd love there to be a solution to this.

Email addresses can be created, IPs can be spoofed (and are shared anyway, IP banning is dangerous), etc.

Well you can use mac addresses as well since most people aren't smart enough to spoof them. But the first step would be to ban accounts created by that person again and if they see the account shares the name of the same person that was banned. Publicly saying you are not welcome to create another account would be the first step, but what I propose is chat permabans but not actual game bans. It works in Dota 2 a game way more complex than lol due to some of its items and since Dota 2 actually gives you all the heroes from the start it actually makes a lot of sense so people still play on their main accounts just don't talk and aren't tempted to go to another account then troll/flame out of spite since they got banned.

Also try to play overwatch after being banned, you won't.

here is their page on it. But if they get enough reports they go to lower priority matchmaking where all trolls go. I have heard also that they will eventually get banned if they receive enough reports and its found to be that they actually will be banned but this usually doesn't happen often but only for trolls or griefers in the extreme cases. Lower priority usually makes people stop trolling since they have to wait such long times and I hear the matches are really bad down there (its like troller hell i've heard). To be clear in lower priority it only matches with other players in low priority. So its basically where they put the trolls and leaves so they can go be them and rot.

Also HOT and overwatch have a similar system, nothing you say in that gets you banned they'll just shut you up unless you are giving threats then they will perma an and possibly allow criminal action. I think smite is similar but can't confirm haven't looked into it yet.

LOL is the only Moba to have such an old ban model and its kind of funny how the community defends something that is clearly a cash grab.

in overwatch and hot they use the silence penalty which is the same as dotas but harsher as you escalate in the system. So while they don't stop you from playing they effectively remove you from the game's chat so you can't be negative kinda like preemptive muting. I think i'll make a post about this also since so many seem to not understand the ban system now only seems to help Riot make money and usually doesn't help players in the slightest. This is why despite all the crap Riot talks about making a healthy community its still so full of hate or people are so scared to type in chat they go to the config file and remove chat.''

Ill share a story since you have listened, I had a friend that had anger management issues since his father beat him and his mother often and he loved gaming. He got banned in LOL (since he has really bad tendencies) a while back and was really sad until I showed him Dota 2 and kinda made me want to at least try to help people that get banned. To show them, that its not your fault you are this way, you are you bud and sometimes you get angry that doesn't make you a bad person like LOL made him out to be (he is a really nice guy when you get to know him and wouldn't ever hurt anyone just has bursts of rage in some games now.)

When he started playing dota 2 i noticed he could actually express his anger over voice chat with hardly no downside with no one getting mad back at him and has actually made a couple friends (something he literally never did in LOL) I think it's sad when a community ostracizes those that might not have the best mental health due to f'ed up circumstance. Also he never has gotten a silence yet and can actually chat with people now.

Kinda says something when you cast out people for not being up to your ideal image of a person even though they want to have fun playing the game. Glad he can have a home somewhere else despite being told he was garbage and unworthy of playing this game . I just wanted to tell others there is an alternative to making more accounts and giving this ponzi scheme more money since it prays upon those with mental health problems (or immature) a lot of the time.

this is almost 100% not why you got banned.

you got banned for flaming. riot, the community, the system dont care about any extra circumstances.

also you probably said some pretty mean things if you skipped the whole 10 and 25 game chat restrictions and the 2 week ban and went straight to permaban.

also riot bans people for saying they will report or asking others to report someone. you gotta shut up and just report them yourself at the end of the game.

is NEVER: "As a real life gay person i take high offense to that word"

never ever ever under any circumstance is disclosing that something bothers you on the internet a good idea. EVER. also disclosing gender, sexuality, religion, or political opinion is NEVER EVER A GOOD IDEA. like, there are no mitigating set of circumstances that make any of the above ok ever.
