Does riot truly remove bans that were not warranted

A friend of mine got an account permanently banned. Not going to defend his actions to get the chat restriction in the first place that he got. He was toxic in both matches on record for the reason for his accounts perma ban.

However, I personally feel the ban was unwarranted. I've gotten 2 accounts banned in my time with league since season 4 and I understand what riot tolerates and does not tolerate. I understand that racist and homophobic slurs are 0 tolerance. Nothing like that was used however. It wasn't any outstanding toxicity listed in his 2 game reason for being punished (I have seen the chat logs). He went from a 10 game chat restriction to a permanent ban with a general toxic match. Toxic or not, I thought there was supposed to be an incremental punishment system.

If there is absolutely no use of extreme toxicity, is there any reason the account should be perma banned directly after a 10 game chat restriction? Would creating a support ticket result in an unban if it was truly unjust

You are advocating for your friend (as good friends do), but without your friend posting their chat logs we can't really have an accurate opinion on if the punishment escalation is deserved or not.

Things that often result in punishment escalation:

Slurs, telling people to kill themselves, hate speech, excessive harassment.

I recommend telling your friend that using "gay" as a word for "bad" is not acceptable. If he gets out of the habit in LoL and in real life, it will be better for him in the long run.

So he already has a history of punishments. I hope you understand that the punishment system is based on both frequency and severity. If he repeats his toxicity disregarding lower levels of punishments, that's your friend's fault for treating the lower level punishments like a joke.

There may be pre-game or post-game chat that isn't being displayed. Riot is working on a better solution to the current system to make sure people know exactly why without having to open a player support ticket.

Typically, there are multiple games for going up the escalation ladder. Are you sure your friend gave you the full and unedited chat log?

Unjust isn't the standard they use.

Rightful is the standard. Was the person rightfully punished. Not whether or not one feels they were justly punished. The person who was punished will almost never feel the punishment is just because they don't believe their actions are toxic.

Also, why is it that their last game is in 2016?

Well one thing you left out is that if he dropped the increasingly standard kys into chat, that also pops an instant perma-ban through the filters.

So there are a few questions that you can ask, your friend may or may not be able to answer it, assuming there was not hate speech in the text given.

  • Was there words that encourage others to harm themselves in the chatlogs given?
  • That is also part of the zero tolerance and can escalate the punishment quickly
  • Was there hate speech / homophobic / words that encourage harm in the pre/post game chat?
  • Those get checked as well, though the reform card doesn't show it
  • When your friend logs in, does it say permanantly "banned" or permanantly "suspended"?
  • Those are two very different things. The prior is punishment due to toxicity, the other is an account lock due to security or payment issues.

i got my account's 14 day ban revoked because it was a mistake. so yes, it is possible, but very unlikely
