Why do 9 people have to requeue if 1 person fails to pick?

[zombie-brand-mindblown] It doesn't even make sense!

Just remove that person/team only and replace them with someone else waiting in queue for that role!

Throwing everyone out just wastes a lot of people's time and is, to put it bluntly, a retarded design. It's especially frustrating if the last person fails to pick and you have to go through all the picks and bans all over again.

I agree this sucks but I don't think slotting someone in would be ideal. Champ select is a process, with intent, ban, picks, communication. The best games are where the adc and support actually discuss their picks and play style before locking in (etc, etc). Just chucking someone in there when 9 persons have already banned and locked in doesn't really make sense.

because when your queue pops it pops for all 10 people. 1 person fails to accept it now has to find 1 person with similar mmr and with the new champion select, it also has to find someone of similar elo, in the open position queuing up alone at the same time

returning to queue for a breif moment allows matchmaking to do just that...make matches.

better question: why should 9 ppl wait for you to lock in your champ?
