Am I the Only One Who Feels Like TakeTheDraw Is Right?
TakeTheDraw is a high elo player who has recently recieved a 14 day ban for playing Smie Nunu support. You may think "oh man this is Singed support all over again", but it isn't. TakeTheDraw has compiled compelling data about his winrate, as well as made convincing arguments about why he feels this ban is unjustified. Riot claims that he was banned for
- Stealing other players roles (something he never did and yet was never adressed by riot in thier response to his questions)
- Refusing to cooperate and communicate with his fellow teammates. I feel that neither of these statements hold any water, especially the latter one. Riot never uses this argument for other bans besides the cases of Singed support and now Nunu support. When champ selct goes down, you cannot report someone for picking a champion you dont like- this is an established fact. It is also common sentiment that you cant report teammates for disagreeing with you- if that 2/6/4 yas wants to split push, you cant report him if he dies after taking a tower: both of you simply have a different idea on how to acheive objective of winning. The same goes for Nunu support with smite. If two people have a differing view on how to win, and one of them shows with statistics that they are more likely to win with one strategy, then they should not be reported for trying to win. No one ever gets banned for using champions in unorthodox ways that work unless it utlizes the champion role in an unorthodox way. I feel this is very unfair- someone can use sion support to their hearts content, but as soon as they assist their team in a way oher than babysitting the ADC for the first 15 minutes bot lane, it somehow becomes bannable.
Some argue that Nunu smite support can be unfair to the ADC as it forces them to fight a 2v1, however, TakeTheDraw has proven that the disadvantage caused in the average game by this imbalance is more than made up for, in more than 1 way. Still others have argued that the "emotional damage" is what makes Nunu smite support bannable, and yet this relationship works both ways. The emotions of both the support and the ADC should be considered equal, meaning that if a ADC wants the support to act one way, and the support wants to act another, then the actual content of the argument should bear the weight of the decision: the ADC should not solely wear the pants in this relationship.
Support is more than just the second role that goes bot lane.
