Words can not. Do not. Will not. Ever in any case. Actually hurt you.

Theres a filter thats on by default. Stop turning it off.

You have a mute button. Use it

You can turn off chat. Do it

You can ignore them. try it

You can gain some sense of maturity. Doubtful

You can get over yourself. No one cares.

Thank you for ruining league cry babies. bed time.

They can emotionally. :)

Filter does not excuse rudeness

You have a mute button. Use it

The existence of bullet resistant vest does not mean you should shoot people.

You can turn off chat. Do it

Is that the same as muting?

You can ignore them. try it

This actually works both ways! You can ignore whatever you decided to flame them for!

You can gain some sense of maturity. Doubtful

I agree, people who display a negative attitude should gain a sense of maturity.

You can get over yourself. No one cares.

So why should I care about what you are saying? No one cares after all!

Thank you for ruining league cry babies. bed time.

Don't forget to drink your milk after your tantrum.

well what you say is kinda true, but is it really so hard to show some decent humanity? to not be an asshole and just be nice?

Yes people should use the mute button when it's clear that others won't stop being verbally abusive jerks. No the mute button and language filters are not excuses to be a verbally abusive jerk. Remember, if it's not helpful or constructive then don't press Send.

Yes they can. Do not put a blanket statement saying "Ever in any case". Words can hurt someone emotionally depending on how extreme it is. This topic is very subjective as everyone is different. The same way that physical pain is also subjective from person to person. For example, when it is time for me to draw blood for lab tests, some people do not even notice the needle, others are cold on the floor (Yes I am a phlebotomist.). Just because you can handle a certain level of verbal abuse doses not mean other people can.

Furthermore it isn't even about the fact that your words may or may not hurt someone. It is about simple respect for the people you are playing with and respect for the game as a whole and having good sportsmanship. Just because riot provides tools to mute people is NOT a free pass to say whatever you like. Riot provides this because that is the only acceptable action a player can take for the situation until they can report the person afterwords as being toxic back to the toxic player is also not ok and only serves to make the problem worse and expose the other players on the team to unneeded toxic behavior, and then we get people on here wondering why they were banned in "self defense".

So for me, this is not even about if the words actually hurt someone. It is about having good sportsmanship. And if you don't care about sportsmanship then don't play an eSport.

There are some people, who are widely considered wise, that believe instead that the only thing that matters is how you treat people.

Or, you could consider that the words you use, if they are so incredibly worthless that no one should ever even notice that you said them, why are you saying anything?

I believe the things I say have value. That is why I say them.

"gain sense of maturity" ya i can only dream of being mature as someone throwing a tantrum on the boards, pc gone mad bro [slayer-jinx-wink]

In that case a chat restriction can't hurt you either so you should be fine.

18 days later and all of a sudden you come back hostile towards the whole reporting system and anybody who uses it? I smell a ban.

When you get a ban, you have two choices:

  1. Keep acting like this and look for reasons to blame others for what happened (protip this never accomplishes anything except sheltering your fragile ego), or

  2. accept that you did something wrong, learn from it, and try to be better in the future.

I recommend #2. It's not world ending to accept fault for something. Matter of fact it's a sign of maturity and integrity.

But we can, by reporting you, so you get banned, and you lose your monehz.

Stop being a toxic brat.
