Banned for ****.

item 3070 So I got a 14 day ban today for carrying a game with a flaming botlane. Sure I answered with flame, but surely not with the same amount as they and not as strong flame. Another thing I want to point out is how ugly riot plays this. I have language filter turned on for a purpose and that purpose is this one. You can't send me the chatlogs later uncensoring my words lmao. I also want to point out that asking someone if they are mentally disabled is not flame. Some players behave in such a way, play in such a way, that sometimes this question is ok to ask. I got dced from the client even before I had time to join a new game so this ban wasn't made by a moderator but your console or something. Review my case plox. P.S I've wasted so much money on this game giving me a 14 day ban for some words is ridiculous. item 3070

The chat filter only changes what you see, not what you said. Your teammates saw what was in the logs.

Toxic teammates? Mute em. It's never a matter of who was worse, but should you have been saying it at all.

So I got a 14 day ban today for carrying a game with a flaming botlane. Sure I answered with flame

so you retaliated, aka flamed back.

im just gonna quote point 4 of the SC now because im sure it will cover most of your post:

If two players on a team start fighting, good communication and teamwork become nearly impossible. Once communication breaks down, the likelihood of victory is drastically diminished.

I also want to point out that asking someone if they are mentally disabled is not flame.

as someone who is mentally disable myself. then no, "asking me" (key words) is not a problem, but lets be real thats not what ppl do, they start blameing everything i do on it...

Luckily for you, you still have one last chance. Next punishment is a permanent ban, so you need to learn quickly how to not respond when you get frustrated at others. If what you're about to say isn't constructive (won't help improve the game for anyone else), then don't say it at all. It doesn't matter if their behavior is better or worse than yours, only that you were making the game less fun by contributing to the problem.

As others have mentioned, you have a misconception of how the chat filter works. The filter is there if you personally do not wish to see cuss words; it doesn't affect what others see. Aside from that, one of the game tips says "A chat filter is not a reason for you to excessively curse!"

Cursing alone is not against the rules. The issue is how you use it; if you're directing it at other players as an insult, it's not okay, but there's nothing wrong with saying "that was fucking awesome!"

That question is NEVER ok to ask. It is insulting for anyone actually suffering from a mental disability. Using someone else condition as an insult is inconsiderate and distasteful.

Instead of contesting your ban, you should grow up, take it like a man (or woman) and learn from your mistakes.

Like others have said, someone else acting up doesn't mean that you get a free pass to act up as well. If someone is acting up then just mute, report and move on. By doing that not only do you not give them what they want (a negative reaction) but you also ensure that only they are valid reported and not you. From Understanding the Tribunal:

4) That player in my game was far worse than me. Why am I banned??? a) I'll keep this one simple: retaliation isn't OK. Reacting to a toxic player by being toxic just incites that player to be even worse--it also ruins the game for up to 8 other players. It is far, far worse to watch two people yelling at each other all game than it is to watch 1 player ranting into blank space. Almost everyone in the game can find someone out there that behaves worse than they do--but so what? Finding someone worse doesn't justify your behavior or justify retaliation. We expect more out of our players. What players often don't realize is... those other players in your game that you thought were worse? Nearly 100% of the time, those players were banned even before you were. If someone is being toxic, just report them and move on. If you retaliate, both of you will be banned. It's really that simple.

Mute next time.

lolk.

The censorship is a client side thing, its a fair assumption to say most players have this filter off. Also, asking if someone is mentally disabled implies they have mental conditions which makes them stupid or bad at the game, so it IS flaming [slayer-jinx-wink] Stay banned

By flaming back, you broke RIOT's rules. You shouldn't have responded to flaming teammates.

Ekko Project8/31/2016, 4:24:46 PM1 votes

riot doesn't care what the premade did you need to be responsible with ur actions and just mute people that annoy you. I got perma banned way back and i have pretty much reformed by just muting people at the start of the game and yelling at the computer instead of the chat. It doesn't matter if they were toxic to you it matters that you retaliated.

Kaioko8/31/2016, 6:50:35 PM1 votes

You're trying to justify breaking the rules because you saw someone else breaking them? Why on earth do you think that's somehow acceptable. People steal every day does that somehow make it okay for me to break into your home and do the same?

You broke the rules and got punished - accept the consequences and move on. That's what adulthood is about, your parents aren't here to bail you out and fix your issues.

Alright guys, you've made your point and I understand that answering with flame was a bad decision. But I still think getting a 2 week ban without a single warning is to harsh. Let's start with one day maybe? Riot?
