So I got a 14 day ban today for carrying a game with a flaming botlane. Sure I answered with flame, but surely not with the same amount as they and not as strong flame. Another thing I want to point out is how ugly riot plays this. I have language filter turned on for a purpose and that purpose is this one. You can't send me the chatlogs later uncensoring my words lmao. I also want to point out that asking someone if they are mentally disabled is not flame. Some players behave in such a way, play in such a way, that sometimes this question is ok to ask. I got dced from the client even before I had time to join a new game so this ban wasn't made by a moderator but your console or something. Review my case plox. P.S I've wasted so much money on this game giving me a 14 day ban for some words is ridiculous.

The chat filter only changes what you see, not what you said. Your teammates saw what was in the logs.

Toxic teammates? Mute em. It's never a matter of who was worse, but should you have been saying it at all.

I'm pretty sure that they see stars just like I do, as i tend to see a lot of censored messages, but if what you are saying is true, then im just gonna say wow riot. Thats honestly the stupidest thing you could've invented. A language filter for yourself. The reason we started fighting was because they wanted me to tp bot from top when i didnt have my tp. I did mute them later that game as i couldn't deal with their poo.

It only censors the words for yourself. It is just a tool for people who don't want to see it. You see a lot of censored messages because it is your client censoring the messages for you at your request.

Luckily for you, you still have one last chance. Next punishment is a permanent ban, so you need to learn quickly how to not respond when you get frustrated at others. If what you're about to say isn't constructive (won't help improve the game for anyone else), then don't say it at all. It doesn't matter if their behavior is better or worse than yours, only that you were making the game less fun by contributing to the problem.

As others have mentioned, you have a misconception of how the chat filter works. The filter is there if you personally do not wish to see cuss words; it doesn't affect what others see. Aside from that, one of the game tips says "A chat filter is not a reason for you to excessively curse!"

Cursing alone is not against the rules. The issue is how you use it; if you're directing it at other players as an insult, it's not okay, but there's nothing wrong with saying "that was fucking awesome!"

Other players got first a 24h ban then a 2 or 5 days ban and after that comes the 2 weeks ban then a permanent ban. I just got a 2 weeks ban, no chat restriction, just a 2 weeks ban. And don't try and trust me with that i have a last chance. As i mentioned earlier, with the ammounts of premades and trolls, you get reported for nothing sometimes, and as i mentioned before, i will get perma banned by a machine and not a moderator.

The current system doesn't use bans shorter than 2 weeks. There are 4 punishment tiers now; 10-game chat restrict, 25-game chat restrict, 2-week ban, permanent ban. Normally you step up one tier with each punishment, unless your behavior is severe enough to warrant skipping a level or two. If you haven't had a chat restriction (within the last several months or so), then something about your recent games was enough to jump you straight to the 2-week ban. The next punishment, regardless of the severity of the behavior that triggers it, will be a permanent ban.

So you have to make absolutely sure that you don't do anything that's punishable. Use /mute all if you have to, just don't respond to toxicity or allow your frustration to dictate your behavior.

You can't be punished if the machine doesn't find anything in your chat logs to validate reports against you. You can play badly enough (unintentionally, of course) that your entire team reports you for Griefing/Assisting Enemy Team, and it won't get you punished if you simply stay silent.

Reign in your behavior, second-guess everything before you make a comment, and you should be alright.

im just gonna quote point 4 of the SC now because im sure it will cover most of your post:

If two players on a team start fighting, good communication and teamwork become nearly impossible. Once communication breaks down, the likelihood of victory is drastically diminished.

as someone who is mentally disable myself. then no, "asking me" (key words) is not a problem, but lets be real thats not what ppl do, they start blameing everything i do on it...

That question is NEVER ok to ask. It is insulting for anyone actually suffering from a mental disability. Using someone else condition as an insult is inconsiderate and distasteful.

Instead of contesting your ban, you should grow up, take it like a man (or woman) and learn from your mistakes.

I still don't understand why asking someone if they are retarded is flame. Im not using someone else condition as an insult as you put it. I simply ask them if they are mentally challenged. If he says yes, then i'll accept the fact, but if not then i'll try to tell him what hes doing wrong lol. Its insulting to ASSUME someone is retarded becasue of his playstyle. And instead of you telling me how to take this ban and just accept this, read my post again and notice that I got banned seconds after the game. Dude just pressed report and filled it. It was not rewied and looked at, I was banned by a machine. I dont care if this is becasue I get a lot of reports becasue there are A LOT of trolls and french premades out there today and getting a report doesn't mean anything basically. Review my chatlogs moderators and then take a decision.

Like others have said, someone else acting up doesn't mean that you get a free pass to act up as well. If someone is acting up then just mute, report and move on. By doing that not only do you not give them what they want (a negative reaction) but you also ensure that only they are valid reported and not you. From Understanding the Tribunal:

4) That player in my game was far worse than me. Why am I banned??? a) I'll keep this one simple: retaliation isn't OK. Reacting to a toxic player by being toxic just incites that player to be even worse--it also ruins the game for up to 8 other players. It is far, far worse to watch two people yelling at each other all game than it is to watch 1 player ranting into blank space. Almost everyone in the game can find someone out there that behaves worse than they do--but so what? Finding someone worse doesn't justify your behavior or justify retaliation. We expect more out of our players. What players often don't realize is... those other players in your game that you thought were worse? Nearly 100% of the time, those players were banned even before you were. If someone is being toxic, just report them and move on. If you retaliate, both of you will be banned. It's really that simple.

The censorship is a client side thing, its a fair assumption to say most players have this filter off. Also, asking if someone is mentally disabled implies they have mental conditions which makes them stupid or bad at the game, so it IS flaming [slayer-jinx-wink] Stay banned

Ok well then I know that riot's language filter isn't visible to other players. I did not know that. I still think that asking someone if they are stupid or bad at the game is still not flaming, especially in comparison with what they were calling me. Why do i get banned if we are both flaming eachother? i understand if i would be flaming someone that isnt flaming back, but if he starts it, continues it and it ends up in me muting him, then HOW DO I GET BANNED FFZ?

I can still log in to my account and since i havent gotten a thank you note from riot that "a player i reported has been banned" i guess hes not banned. He was talking french and had FR in his name. Ok maybe i haven't been clear but i think that a 14 day ban without a warning is a bit to harsh. When I asked other people about bans they said that first theres a 24h ban, then 2 days or 5, after that its 2 weeks. I'll post the logs later.

riot doesn't care what the premade did you need to be responsible with ur actions and just mute people that annoy you. I got perma banned way back and i have pretty much reformed by just muting people at the start of the game and yelling at the computer instead of the chat. It doesn't matter if they were toxic to you it matters that you retaliated.

You broke the rules and got punished - accept the consequences and move on. That's what adulthood is about, your parents aren't here to bail you out and fix your issues.

Normally you only receive a 10 or 25 game chat restriction for your first two offenses. However, those get skipped entirely to a 2-week or permanent ban (nothing less exists) if the behavior displayed is truly egregious. Contact Support if you're still confused about it.

Bruh, how can a console tell how "egregious" my behavior is. I never said anything racist or some fucked up stuff like that. Many people have told me that they've gotten a one day ban at first and never a 2 week ban. I don't get this.

If they told you that then most likely they were either:

A. Lying (most likely). OR B. Referencing how the punishment system used to be years ago when chat restrictions weren't a thing (least likely).

As for egregious things, you don't have to use foul language or even use the chat at all to be a jerk to your teammates. Gameplay related offenses like intentionally feeding, leaving/afking in games, intentionally troll surrendering as a 4-man premade and things of that nature will also bump you up to a 2-week or permaban status as well, though some of these will often require a manual review of the account in question first. The system is programmed to detect patterns in behavior and hand out punishments based on that. This is why outside of extreme circumstances players aren't punished for just one or two games alone.
