Why are smurfs so toxic?

My little brother asked me to help him learn how to play league today, so i set up an account and we played 2 bot games. Seemed ok, he had the common sense. Go back when your low bla bla bla. The other stuff you learn from experience. Like aim (ey first computer), items, how to know when to go in etc. I'm not good at the game myself actually.

We then tried a normal summoners rift game. He fed but we still won. Than, ARAM... yikes. 2/12 as master yi. (i was siting beside him while he was playing). This one Lissandra, she went off on him. "Yi, are you trolling?" "You must be joking..." "You suck" "EVERYONE REPORT YI" then of course there was more (but can i curse on here?). I didn't even pay attention to the rest, i was busy making sure he doesn't get depression from day 1 of playing this game and quit.

I looker her up (Lissandra) on op.gg or something like that, about ten games. All of them are like 15/2. (except for two losses which were both aram)

Anyways, if YOU smurf, why would you flame someone who litterally just started. Yes they are bad, thats why they get placed with other bad people to play with/against. You l e a r n. And why do you smurf? Are you just so bad that you gotta inflate your ego playing against noobs? Did you get banned? for being toxic (probably)? Yeah i get it if it's ranked.. theres a lot on stake. BUT a normal game as level 7????????????? Why?

For now i'll just have him play bot games, imo i remember being flamed a lot when i started too. Maybe i'm just being overprotective...

I wanted to report but he shut down the computer right after :^(

Maybe i typed too much, maybe nobody's gonna even read this. Just something i wanted to get out.

One thing I think is because they think they are better. Meh.

Personally I don't see the joy in playing with unequal opponents.

That reminded me of my Thornmail Ashe , a year and half ago I got flamed so hard , but I said I'm new , some people still flamed , but I still had teammates who defended me every match

They have egos. I don't flame people for mistakes because I know I'm not perfect either.

It's easier to flame others for mistakes than look at your own and say, "I should help Yi ward enemy jungle since he likes to invade."

Pretty much because surfs often have the mindset of them being superior to their competition.

Just had to comment a 2nd time and say how much I love seeing threads like this.

Nobody wants more shitty fucking players is why

Instead of viewing only yourself as a victim you should consider others

For perspective on why ANYONE is so salty on this game you should do this experiment

1st go OUT OF YOUR WAY to lose EVERY single game you possibly can. Literally, lose lane, steal farm, throw do whatever you can to lose and you can even make it a little obvious (double tear, mobi boots, AD on AP or vice versa, etc)

2nd call ONE person ONE name every other game, make sure it is only ONE name, dont go on some massive spcheal otherwise you're going to alter the results. You literally dont have to curse or use hate speech (I've gotten "idiot loser" to work, seriously try it)

See which method gets you permaed first and get back to me

No one would mind the mouth breathers/trolls/inattentive idiot's if they'd stay in ARAM but that's not what happens is it? They tend to conglomeration in the "competitive" ranked or draft

I sympathize with you about toxic players but maybe for the future you could consider muting toxic players? The feature is built in for a reason. Good on your for teaching your brother some League though!

A lot of "smurfs" are made because the main account was banned/suspended. They're toxic and down there because they were toxic in higher levels and now can't play there.

Many times, smurfs are people who have been permanently banned for toxicity and are restarting from the beginning.

Just let your lil bro know that there's a light at the end of the tunnel and that the toxic people tend to get banned again while they're levling up back to 30+.

pretty sure that Lissandra is not smurf

BrightWîngs11/30/2018, 12:31:51 AM1 votes

like I can understand the frustration watching someone who is bad but people just dont understand that the person is clearly new since they are on a smurf they should expect people to be not that good some people just need a reason to be mad

It really depends. Seeing what happened to you I would say they are toxic and stupid, but at the same time. I have been semi-toxic to an enemy player to tilt them to they tilt their team. Just constantly asking where their Jungler is when they die. Say Sorry after every single kill we get on any enemy. There are idiots who are toxic for no reason and the ones who use it help win the game.

I've been playing for no idea how long, but I saw S3 world championship so several years. I have never played ranked and just a couple normal games, just because of this attitude of other players, allies and opponents. I feel like the objective presentation of this game is partially at fault. If you emphasize teamwork, while 5 random people can't achieve that in just 1 game, everyone takes it to be responsibility of others and things just go downhill.

I hope youre teaching him how to ignore and cope with flamers. Even if he plays bots for a year, hes eventually gonna go back into pvp and get flamed. Everyone gets flamed. Not all smurfs are like that, but yeah that Liss was a cock.

Because players in general on this game are incredibly toxic and riot does very little to actually stem this problem. The simple fact is riot just doesn't care that much because it doesn't effect their bottom line. Honestly if LoL ever dies out it'll most likely be due to their indifference regarding player behavior.

slit my neck irl11/29/2018, 6:31:54 AM1 votes

Because riot makes it take forever to hit 30 and anyone above gold will get a brain tumor from having to play with new players

Vreivai11/29/2018, 9:03:19 AM1 votes

Because a lot of them are players who just had their main account permabanned.

And then, of course, this part

{quoted} This one Lissandra, she went off on him. "Yi, are you trolling?" "You must be joking..." "You suck" "EVERYONE REPORT YI" then of course there was more (but can i curse on here?). I didn't even pay attention to the rest, i was busy making sure he doesn't get depression from day 1 of playing this game and quit.

Riot themselves have somewhat encouraged this mindset, as the stuff a beginner will typically do in game would result in a 2-week ban for griefing for a more experienced player.

Vanilla Trubbs11/29/2018, 10:59:39 AM1 votes

Many of them have had their accounts permabanned, often for reasons that seem unjust to them. Riot's current system is a perfect recipe for creating highly motivated, very angry players on new accounts. It's ironic because at the end of the day it's going to come back and hurt them by hurting the growth of their game. What new player wants to play with a bunch of angry motivated dickheads?
