Its simple. If the what this guys writes is true, players would get 14 day bans for making the same jokes in game that riot does during meetings/conferences. While riot wants to have an "edgy" and "cool" culture, they want us players not to type anything that could remotely be offensive. Maybe riot needs a bot to monitor their meetings notes......

when 1 person is causing multiple games to be unfun, they are potentially causing multiple people to quit the game, and therefore are costing Riot more than they're contributing.

Creating an environment where people only can say positive things and anything borderline not positive opens you up for punishment. Scarra has made a couple of videos discussing this issue.

I've been playing since season two and have been a sarcastic ass since then. No punishment, no warnings. Hell I've been around so long I've heard this exact same argument directed at Lyte and the response was something like "We don't want players to be positive all the time but to be negative less often." Meaning players can be angry in chat, just not every single game, and every time the gold advantage doesn't favor their team.

That's because, especially on the boards, people don't see themselves as that bad. They remember a few games getting tilted then when they eat a ban they post here contesting the ban without realizing that they hav a looooooooong history of salty behavior. A friend of mine is in that catagory or keyboard warrior, he's always been on a hair trigger in game but he's never consistently salty to the point that he's eaten more than a 25 game chat restriction.
Seriously, I'd say 80% of players don't hav to change how they act in game, just be aware of whats appropriate at the time and when in doubt just play the game and save the chat for calling in game plays.

Extreme: [Made up post] "omg Riots promotes rape culture! Every single employee deserves to be carved up but a rusty cheese grater." As it is pretty much wishing death or extreme pain with little room for discussion.
Spirals: this one actually splits a few different ways. [Made up post] OP makes it clear that they don't wish to discuss anything and simply calls anyone who disagrees a waiting rapist, idiot, etc. [Different Made Up post] Discussions spiral out of control by posters resulting in many personal attacks on multiple people. Instead of deleting each and every comment involved and possibly edits any that have deleted posts in quotes. It is simpler to delete the entire post.

Subject 51 votesLul I got a 14 day suspension for making a joke that 5-7 other players joined in on the rest of the match. It was racial because we had a black champion in the game, but this 1 Donut eating fuck apparently got upset about the roleplay so I got punished for it.
