crashed came back still punished

ok so I have a friend I got into league and he crashed while we were in the loading screen. he came back and legitamtly tried his best to win we all did he even got to lvl 13 in no time. he shielded me shielded allies. he did all he could and he can't open loot because of adj behavior despite him coming and I into the game and trying to win. There's a lot of other issues I have but we will stick with this for now.

Why is this even a thing? I find it hard to believe they cant sense the player coming back and actually doing things.

If you are not present in the game for a certain amount of time when it starts you will be hit by the leave buster. It sucks but it's there so that people with connection issues can't continuously jump into games without being dealt with. No one enjoys having a teammate that randomly disconnects.
