Suggestion For Increasing Positive Behavior
With the new hex tech crafting and loot system with champion mastery being released, there is a reward mechanism being put in place encouraging you to group with friends, to play well, and to explore and master a larger variety of champions.
I suggest that this concept can be expanded to address positive behavior. Both literature in psychology and colloquial phrases ("you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar") support the idea that rewarding positive behavior enforces a desired action more efficiently than punishing an undesired behavior. The quantity of undesired behavior is currently staggeringly high in League. I propose, therefore, to revise the honor system to reward players with tangible items like keys, shards, or chests if they are honored for being positive, friendly, helpful, etc. - essentially, to add another arm in the already proposed loot system that promotes positive attitude along with champion mastery and strong play.
I realize that there is an existing reward of banners on a player's loading icon if a player receives a lot of commendations, but I think a more immediate and consistent reward would have a greater impact in shaping player behavior. To avoid abuse of the system and to make the Dynamic queue more friendly toward non-partied players, I also suggest that partied members cannot honor each other. The ability to only commend non-partied players is similar in concept to another game I play, Final Fantasy 14 -- one generally with a more tolerant community. Not only does it allow the odd man or two out in a 3 or 4 man pre made to receive rewards for cooperating well, but it encourages the pre made not to gang up on or alienate the solo-queuers because it will minimize their chances of receiving a reward by those players post-game.
