I now understand why report calling is punishable by riot

I recently played a game where my team lost a 4v5 (which imo was because none of us dealt any damage) and I was called toxic by another player for saying some negative things. I admit I was being negative, but I dont believe my behavior was toxic or reportable, yet this guy was calling for my report in all chat and calling me toxic. I was seriously confused by this and I kept asking what I was doing that was toxic, but the other player had said long ago that he muted me. Later in the game one of the enemy's made a joke in all chat and then the player from before said "is [the champion I was playing] still being toxic? Just mute and report him I did long ago". As someone who is formerly a toxic player amd trying really hard to reform, this guys comments made me genuinely upset and tilted and I felt like I was being bullied. So PSA think long and hard next time you call for a report or tell another player you muted them and that theyre toxic because you can seriously upset them.

  • "muted"
  • "reported"
  • "9x ___ for toxic"
  • And similar things are considered punishable.

I report anybody in my matches who does this and shows no remorse when confronted with the knowledge that reports don't stack.

I'm very sorry you had to deal with that behavior, it's shitty and nobody deserves to experience it, not even reforming players.

I seem to get away with "report X if you want to"

Then again, ive only done it like 2 times

I had a guy do that to me when I wasn't even being negative. Someone on this board said that giving a reason for wanting to ff wasn't reportable, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I tried to be as cordial as possible.

I think I said, "They are much stronger than us right now, and they scale hard. let's ff"

dude said to report me and called me toxic 5 times, including once in post-game. for that 1 line. the only other thing I said was gg.

Telling people they are muted is very different from calling them toxic or calling for reports. I don't want my allies to waste time typing messages to me personally so I tell them they are muted.

If you're actually being toxic and making the game miserable for other players, especially if it's on purpose, it's only a matter of time until you get flamed. If you can't recognize your bad behavior and make changes then maybe a team strategy game isn't a good fit for you in your quest to have gaming fun online.

There's calling for a report, and there's being a dick about it. Don't be a dick should be the universal guideline.
