Suggestions for bettering the honor system

Too many times I am super friendly, helpful, and/or have awesome teamwork to the point where I feel like I deserve some type of honor but as soon as we hit the after game lobby everyone just bounces out onto the next game.

Here are several suggestions for bettering the honor system:

  1. Make players honor at least one member of their team before continuing onto another game.
  2. Allow players who forgot to honor, but had the intent to honor be able to go back to a previous game and honor the player.
  3. As soon as the game is over (either in victory or defeat) have each team nominate the MVP and/or honor stymy before being able to head back to lobby.
  4. Get rid of the friendly honor and replace it with another honor type, but reward those who honor 'X' amount of honors (suggestion would be 500 honors)

To my knowledge there is no reason why a player should honor another player. I feel like the current system is only set up to report players or move on, nothing more. It's time to reward those players who are friendly, helpful, and have good teamwork instead of them just moving onto the next game with no real reason why they should be friendly, helpful, or have good teamwork.

I believe you have good intentions however I strongly disagree with your quote of:

  1. Make players honor at least one member of their team before continuing onto another game.

No one should Honor or Report for the sake of getting something from it, be it for the good of the game or the ego of the person. !!

There are ways of improving the honor system, I'd like to explore those options, with the members of this board later when everyone has a chance to express their opinions. Thanks OP, at least for allowing me to say so.

Forcing people to pick someone, either to honor or for MVP, just opens the system to trolls. Honor should be something given out of respect, and most people simply don't care.

Now, you could make the argument that the honor system, in itself, has failed since the "reward" is merely a little ribbon (and some recognition I guess). It's not really something people get excited about.

People started honor trading when the system first came out and it became apparent that no good rewards would come from it. I feel that Riot could use ward skins as a reward. However, how do we stop the honor trading. I think it is simple limit the number of Honors to 3 per game. And if you que with someone you can't honor them. I do feel that honoring them should go beyond friendly, helpful, and teamwork. I feel there should be an option for a "skilled player", I've seen many matches where the person was clearly better than the rest of the competition why not recognize their skills. I also feel there are other subsets for teamwork such as communication, awareness, supportive (as in we got killed or lost a lane and the person kept me cool and focused) But I feel that you need to incentivize to get people to honor players such as a free RP or IP boost or ward skins if they honor a percentage of players they played with in the season
